- Taironaka Turismo Ecologico - Enjoy a 45-minutes hike next to Don Diego river and arrive at Taironaka, an eco-hotel that was once one of the multiple indigenous settlements that Tayronas built over the Sierra Nevada. The owners of this eco-hotel spent years restoring this land, and they discovered elements, tools and ceramic pieces from the Tayronas, which now rest in their own archaeological museum. Roam around this area and find the small terraces built over the slopes of the mountains, that somewhat emulates Lost City terraces. After touring around Taironaka, you will descend the river by doing tubing. A splendid trip, where you can also take the sun, observe and hear the “howling monkeys” and if you are lucky enough, Simon Bolivar and Cristobal Colon peaks (the second-highest peaks next to the sea in the world). Delight yourself with an absolutely magnificent scene, once you get to see the mountains and the river merging with the sea.

Excellent recommendation! - We had an amazing tour with Juan Carlos to Minca and when he heard we were going to Palomino the next day, he offered us a private transport. He sent us a driver that drove us all the way to Palomino and made a stop at Taironaka, one of the indigenous settlements, which was very interesting! There we also had time for a boatride to spot some of the wildlife (monkeys, birds, caiman,...). We didn’t do the tubing (even though it looked really relaxing), but went to Palomino to spend the rest of the day at the beach. He told us to take our time and he would drive us back when we were ready. We had an amazing day thanks to Bukap Travels and thanks to Juan, our guide for today. If you’re in the caribbean coast of Colombia, this is the place to book your transport/tours. Excellent recommendation!
