Fantastic day with José Antonio - We were two couples and had a great day out at our own pace. I had a broken leg so was moving slowly in the wheelchair, but José went the extra mile to help and made sure I had a great time and saw a lot of stuff. The nature and microclimates on this island are absolutely fantastic. José knows the island well and he is perceptive and warm. His English is elementary but he makes himself understood. One thing worth inquiring about if you're in port on a cruise is that José's colleague has a permit to pick people up right at the ship. This he did, delivering us to José in town. If possible, this saves a lot of time and puts any anxiety to rest about the meet-up point. Meeting shipside made everything effortless. Our only regret was that the port call was so short (seven hours). There is so much to see on this island. José did a great job packing a lot in, but we really need to return.

Cumbrecita Route and Volcanoes La Palma - This was a really interesting tour which took us round the whole centre and south of the island, taking in all the important sights. Our driver José was wonderful - very friendly, informative and safe. Communication in advance was very good and we were picked up on time and returned to the hotel on time but we never felt rushed - a really well planned trip. We were given as much time as we wanted at stops to look around, go for a walk or have lunch. José was clearly committed to ensuring that we enjoyed our tour and also included some additional stops in consultation with us e.g. to an especially interesting church and to learn about banana cultivation. While there were information boards in English at all the major stops which my husband could read, but when José discovered that I was learning Spanish he explained the points of interest to me in Spanish and answered all my questions so I had a fantastic day of language practice as well as a wonderful tour!

A great way to visit La Palma - In just a day José Antonio showed us around the island visiting places we wouldn’t have found ourselves. We were a bit unlucky with the weather since the volcano’s peaks were in the clouds, but he made it up with other interesting places to enjoy. The lunch in a wine grotto was delicious. What José might lack in fluent English is made up by his enthusiasm, friendliness and knowledge of the island.
