Hike steep, cave deep...fun day - Our driver was really good at telling us about Costa Rica. He even made a decision for us that leaving earlier in the morning would be better as its gets pretty hot for the hike. The trail at the beginning is just gravel and pretty steep. It levels off. I would suggest that a shuttle up to the one area would make it more enjoyable for those a bit older. In some reviews it says to wear long pants and long sleeve shirts. Not necessary. Again our driver was helpful to tell us just take water. Side note- you need more water. Now the caves. They are cool. Well not cool temps. It still was pretty warm. Our guide was really great. It was a bit slippery in the caves. The guide is very good at safety first. Lastly the communication from Viator and the driver were down right perfect. So the review doesn't really say anything bad, nothing bad for Viator, but hike was not explained well by Barra Honda and the guide taken us to the cave did not speak English. We are in Costa Rica so that is on us, but we asked for a english speaking guide so that was our only knock.
