Centro Historico de Santa Marta - Everything begins around 9:30 am at the Expotur office where in a 4 × 4 truck we take a 2 ½ hour course to the Mamey region, where we have lunch and then begin the search for the sacred place of the Tayronas (ancient inhabitants of The lost City). At the end of the afternoon we arrive at Camp 1, in its surroundings we will find rivers, natural pools, waterfalls for moments of relaxation, then we will have dinner and there will be accommodations prepared in hammocks to rest and spend the night.

CAMP 1 - CAMP 3

Parque Nacional Natural Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta - The day begins and we have breakfast early, to then start walking through the Buritaca river valley, there we will find numerous houses that make up a village of indigenous Kogui called Mutanshi. Our tour of the day is approximately 7 hours, passing through the jungle of the Sierra Nevada and meeting face to face with the natural diversity, until finally arriving directly at Camp 3 where we eat, rest and spend the night.

CAMP 3 - LOST CITY - CAMP 2

Ciudad Perdida - Very early we have breakfast, to begin the ascent to our destination, we begin by climbing 1,200 steps, a path built by the Tayronas themselves, at the end we will find the long-awaited Lost City, once there the guide will show us and give us information about the magical full place of relics and ancestral stories, we will spend the morning enjoying the landscapes of the destination, having enough time to rest and take pictures, finally we will have lunch and continue the same way back to reach Camp 2 where we have dinner and spend the night.

CAMP 2 - EL MAMEY

Parque Nacional Natural Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta - The last day of the adventure begins with breakfast to continue the way back to the point where it all began, the way we will find rivers and waterfalls to refresh ourselves, until finally reaching the Mamey where we will have lunch and the truck will wait for us to return to the city of Santa Marta where we will arrive around 5:00 pm having fully enjoyed an enriching new experience in the magical Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

Excellent company to do the Lost City trek - We had a great trek to the lost city with Justin, our translator, and Adrianna, our guide. Justin was friendly, curious and engaged with the group. Great company ! I was the slowest one of our group and spent most of my hiking days with Adrianna. She was patient, showed me paths through mud pits ( we had some heavy rain), gave a helpful hand on difficult sections. I was never rushed and could do this trail at my own pace. Food was good all around and at every meal. Fresh fruits for snacks throughout the day. Justin and Adrianna gave regular safety advice and reminders. They regularly checked how we were doing and offered whenever possible all other options for mules or motorcycles for us to choose. Adrianna had regular talks and shared information about the Sierra Nevada, its people and of course the lost city. Questions were encouraged, plenty of opportunity given to interact. Expotur seemed to be the only company that had a translator. There was a real emphasis on employing indigenous people for all the support functions (mules and such) and local guides. The company also does insure you for the 4 days. We received by email ( in my spam) an insurance certificate. Adrianna mentioned on the last day that if we didn't feel well, we could use this insurance on the 4 days in Santa Marta to get a doctor checking us. This is rare for a tour, so I felt that it was worth mentioning. They kept our bag for free at their office. On the last day they brought it to the trail end because we were going to Taganga. They even dropped us off at our accommodation in Taganga for free. An excellent experience and possibly the best company to do it with.

Lost City July 2024 - Hiking to the Lost City was a one in a lifetime experience. We were lucky having such fun and good guides. Elizabeth, Maria and Pecho teaches us a lot about the different ethnicities and their culture around the Sierra Nevada of the Colombian Caribbean cost. I would recommend everyone who visits the Caribbean part of the country making the tour.

A magical and unforgettable hike - An immersion in the rainforest and among the Wiwas, indigenous people of Sierra Nevada, breathtaking! The site of Ciudad perdida is perched in the middle of the forest, it consists of circular terraces very "vibrant". The organization is nickel with Turcol: the Wiwa Guide, Celso, the Translator, Pillar, the Trainee Guide, Sleider, and the Cook were at our disposal and shared many knowledge throughout the stay with great depth and desire to transmit. It's a physically Committed circuit that makes you very happy!

Super Tour, an adventure worthwhile - I can only recommend this tour! The tour is well organized (pick up, explanations, route, breaks etc.). We had an amazing translator named Justin. He made the tour special because he gave a lot of personal insights and was always positive. He motivated us really well and spoke perfect English. Also our guide Adriana was great and gave a lot of information. The trail is beautiful, though, you might want to know, really exhausting (especially due to the heat and luggage you carry. You overcome a few meters of altitude). But it's worth it! The accommodations were simple but perfectly fine. In the middle of the jungle more than I expected:)
