Highlights
  • Farm Tomita - Farm Tomita, where a tapestry of over 150 varieties of flowers bloom throughout the seasons. The lavender fields, the farm’s original claim to fame, begin their vivid display in June, while the winter greenhouse opens in mid-August, offering a glimpse of lavender, geraniums, and a colorful array of plants. From mid-April, the fields are adorned with saffron, followed by daffodils and tulips in May. Ascend to the top of the flower fields for a breathtaking view of the Furano Basin and the Tokachi mountain range.
  • Roller Coaster Road - Experience the thrill of Roller Coaster Road, a 2.5-kilometer stretch with dramatic elevation changes that have earned it a spot among the top eight scenic views of Kamifurano. The road’s undulating hills, reminiscent of a roller coaster ride, are flanked by majestic mountains and expansive pastoral landscapes, making it a popular route for enjoying the splendor of Hokkaido’s scenery.
  • Shirogane Blue Pond - The Blue Pond, located on the left bank of the Biei River, is a serene body of water created by a dam constructed to intercept volcanic magma. Under the sunlight, the pond reflects a mesmerizing blue hue, earning its name. Captured by National Geographic photographer Kent Shiraishi, the pond’s image was later acquired by Apple and became one of the default wallpapers for the MAC series. Rich in volcanic ash minerals and sediment, the Blue Pond changes color with the environment, offering a new spectacle at every moment.
  • Shikisai no Oka - Stroll through the 15-hectare expanse of Shikisai-no-Oka, a vibrant carpet of flowers resembling a seven-colored rainbow. From late May to the end of October, over 30 varieties of flowers, including tulips, lavender, and sunflowers, bloom across the rolling hills, creating a painter’s palette of colors. Admire the giant straw sculptures and visit the alpaca farm (admission to the alpaca farm is 500 yen, not included in the tour).
  • Ningle Terrace - Explore Ningle Terrace, a forest workshop inspired by the characters from the novels of Japanese author Soh Kuramoto. Each charming cabin shop offers unique, handcrafted goods, such as glassware, paper crafts, hand-painted art, and lavender crafts from Furano. Exclusive to this location, the shops provide a quaint shopping experience, especially enchanting when the lights come on at dusk.
