Highlights
  • Sefrou - The Province of Sefrou is situated at the base of the Middle Atlas, 22 km south of Fez, and is traversed by Oued Aggay (from the Berber word for “cheeks”), which is renamed Oued Lihoudi as it passes through the Mellah. Sefrou is famous for its waterfall.

Places to visit:

Visitors are encouraged to explore:

The Old Medina, which is rich with attractions including its ramparts, forts (borjs), historic gates, Jewish residences adorned with wooden balconies, zaouias, mosques, bridges, and caravanserais.
The Bab Lamqam Craft Complex: a site for the production and exhibition of Al Moumen (from the Arabic “the cave of the believer”), a natural cavity in the side of Jbel Bina at the city’s entrance. This cave, surrounded by numerous legends, is revered by both Jews and Muslims.
The Cascade on Oued Aggay, a refreshing spot with lush and abundant vegetation.

  • Azrou - cedar forests
Few travelers visit Azrou for the city itself; it is the cedar forests that bring fame to the region.

The most notable resident of these forests was the Grand Cèdre Gouraud, the largest ancient cedar in the area, which unfortunately died a few years ago due to a processionary caterpillar infestation.

Near the Cèdre Gouraud, there are stalls selling souvenirs, drinks, and peanuts. These vendors thrive thanks to the hundreds of Gibraltar monkeys in the area, as visitors enjoy interacting with and feeding the macaques.

  • Ifrane - Ifrane is a city in the Middle Atlas mountains of Morocco, known for its Alpine-style architecture, nearby ski slopes, and forests. The stone lion statue near the green park La Prairie is a notable symbol. Just outside the city is the Ain Vittel spring with its multiple waterfalls. To the west, Ifrane National Park and its Atlas cedar forests are home to rare Barbary macaques.

  • Ifrane Atlas Saghir - Middle Atlas
The Middle Atlas is a mountain range stretching approximately 350 km from southwest to northeast Morocco, situated between the Rif and the High Atlas, covering a total area of 2.3 million hectares, or 18% of the country’s high-altitude domain.
