Jeongbang Waterfall - This iconic waterfall on Jeju Island is the only one in Asia that cascades directly into the sea. Visitors can even dip their feet in the water. The Chinese characters “Seobulgwacha” are inscribed on the rock wall of Jeongbang Falls. Legend has it that an envoy of Emperor Qin Shi Huang came to Yeongju Mountain (now Hallasan Mountain) in Jeju to find “Bulocho” and took turns engraving words on the rock wall, but the rock was broken by a typhoon. The area around Jeongbang Falls is rocky, so visitors must tread carefully. While descending the stairs is easy, climbing back up can be challenging. The waterfall is especially picturesque when rainbows appear, adding to its natural beauty.

Oedolgae - Oedolgae Rock (Lonely Rock)
Oedolgae is steeped in a tragic love legend. In a seaside village in Seogwipo-si, a couple lived with their child. One day, the father went fishing but was caught in a storm and drowned. The mother waited on the beach every day for decades until she turned to stone, holding her baby. When the father’s body washed ashore, he too turned to stone, with his legs submerged in the sea. Visitors can see the father’s feet in the water behind the stone figure of the mother.
- Daepo Haean Jusangjeolli Cliff - These columnar joints are vertical, quadrangular-shaped pillars that look as if they were meticulously carved. They were formed by the rapid cooling and contraction of thick lava flows. The hexagonal stone pillars, stacked like stairs, create a natural wonder. The waves crashing against the pillars can be spectacular, sometimes soaring over 20 meters high. The Jusangjeolli Cliffs along the Jungmun-Daepo Coast are 30 to 40 meters high and about 1 km wide, making them the largest in Korea and designated as Jeju Island Natural Monument No. 443.

- Yongmeori Beach - Located at the foot of Sanbangsan Mountain, Yongmeori Coast resembles a dragon’s head dipping into the sea. The sandstone rocks, shaped by waves over tens of millions of years, form unique cliffs. The hollow “oyster room” and wave-carved rock walls evoke a sense of ancient history. The dramatic 30-50 meter cliffs have been featured in commercials and movies.

Songaksan Mountain features a cinder cone and a tuff ring, with a peak that is 69 meters deep and well-preserved. Once known only to archaeologists, it is now a popular tourist destination. The mountain was used as a Japanese base during WWII, and remnants of airfields, hangars, and anti-aircraft artillery can still be seen. Coastal trenches below the cliffs pose falling hazards. -
