Highlights

Your private tour begins with a hotel pickup, followed by a visit to the Dongdaemun Design Plaza. This project, led by renowned architect Zaha Hadid, features a curvaceous structure and a silvery façade. Opened in 2014, it includes multiple undulating levels of galleries, exhibition halls, design shops, and event spaces. This modern Korean landmark also houses a history and culture park, showcasing museums that highlight the past, such as a 16th-century Joseon dynasty military camp where historical treasures were discovered during construction.

Next on the itinerary is Jangchungdan Park. Originally a shrine commemorating Korean soldiers who died defending Gyeongbok Palace from Japanese invasion, it was transformed into a park in 1919 after the shrine was removed during the Japanese occupation. Today, visitors can explore numerous statues and memorials in this charming park. Enjoy lunch afterward.

After lunch, head to the Seoul City Wall Museum. Built in 1396 to protect the capital of the Joseon dynasty, the wall has been rebuilt several times. Originally 18km long with 8 gates, only 6 gates remain today. Koreans now walk along the fortress path to enjoy views of Seoul and its beautiful mountains.

The Seoul City Wall Museum offers a closer look at the wall’s historical significance. The museum displays artifacts related to the city’s changes and features permanent and special exhibition halls, as well as a multi-purpose lecture room.

From the Naksan Fortress, visit the Ihwa Mural Village, an unexpected art area filled with street art, paintings, and sculptures. Ten years ago, the government planned to demolish the neighborhood, considering it unattractive, poor, and aging. However, street art revitalized the area, attracting artists, tourists, and locals.

Next, explore the “Secret” Valley in Seoul, a natural and historical site that has remained untouched. It’s a perfect getaway to experience Korea’s authentic nature. The neighborhood is also ideal for a leisurely stroll and enjoying the beautiful landscape.

Visit the traditional tea house, Suyeonsanbang, meaning “small home in the forest where literary people used to meet.” Originally owned by famous Korean author Lee Tae-Jun, who used it as a workshop, this peaceful and charming tea house offers a unique experience to relax and enjoy traditional tea surrounded by nature.

Return to your hotel at approximately 5:00pm.

GREAT TOUR! - Adella Kim was our tour guide for the private Seoul tour and she was the sweetest person we could have ever gotten! My mom had a travel agent book it so we really didn’t know much going in but the instructions were simple enough to wait in our hotel. My little sister (5) and my younger brother (21) both enjoyed themselves immensely! We had a wonderful time exploring and getting to know the city more , would definitely do it again.

Enjoyed a great day long tour - Justin provided our group a very interesting day long tour of Seoul. We attended the changing of the guard ceremony and visited some other very interesting neighborhoods in Seoul to include a shopping district, a very nice Temple and an interesting private neighborhood. Lunch was at the Ginseng Chicken Soup Restaurant and was amazing. All in all it was a great day with lots to see and plenty of exercise. Thank you Justin!
