10/10 The most fun I’ve ever had making lunch with my buddies! - Akemi & Dan were absolutely awesome! Chilling in their home and learning how to make sushi was so chill, especially on a hot summer day when we didn’t feel like being outside. Plenty of food to eat too. The fish quality itself was surprisingly good too. Akemi did most of the sushi teaching and lessons, Dan was a great English-speaking interpreter too! Akemi’s English is solid too, and their chemistry is sweet. The most fun I’ve ever had making lunch with my buddies! 10/10 would recommend to friend groups and families

My favorite sushi lesson - At AKEMI’s SUSHiKiTCHEN, you can have lunch and enjoy the experience of making top-class Edo-mae sushi. Lessons are offered in both English and Japanese. Akemi, a trained sushi chef, conducts the lessons at her own house, so the at-home hospitality is very easy-going. You can learn about the history of Edo-mae sushi, and thanks to the easy-to-understand guidance, even beginners can make hand-pressed sushi and rolled sushi skillfully. And when you get to the best part – eating the sushi – the taste is superb! All of the ingredients are carefully selected; not only the fresh fish, but also the rice, the vinegar, and the seaweed, so it is truly delicious, from the vinegar rice to the fish on top. And there’s also Japanese sake, which goes very well with sushi. I highly recommend this Edo-mae sushi experience, which is packed with Akemi’s close attention to detail, not only for travelers from overseas, but for Japanese people as well! Now that I have learned how to make rolled sushi and inari sushi, I look forward to trying it at home. Thank you very much for a wonderful time.

My first sushi lesson - You can have a private lesson with close friends, and enjoy the experience of making sushi with the easy-to-understand guidance of Akemi, a trained sushi chef. In addition to nigiri (hand-pressed) sushi, you will learn to make inari sushi (in tofu pockets) and maki-sushi (rolled sushi). As we touched on elements of Japanese culture, we learned why sushi is so delicious, and we learned the little tricks that the professionals use. We could feel how Akemi pays close attention to the fresh fish, of course, but also the rice, the vinegar, and even the beverages. Dan’s explanations were nice and easy to understand. As we enjoyed the warm hospitality of our two hosts, we dined on delicious sushi. I plan to invite some other close friends and go again soon!

Don’t miss this if you’re looking for a fun indoor experience in Tokyo! - Akemi-san was a fantastic host. She showed her excellent skills in fish cutting, rice cooking, sushi making, but most importantly, she made sure that all the participants understood the history of sushi and how to make it properly. I enjoyed the whole experience so much - thank you Akemi-san! Enjoyed all the yummy food, and especially I got to try the food that I made as well. If you’re visiting Tokyo and looking for a fun indoor experience, you should definitely not miss this!

Delicious and fun sushi experience - We had an amazing time taking Akemi's sushi class. The food was delicious and she talked us through all the steps of sushi making. I can't wait to make some sushi at home. Akemi and Dan were so easy to communicate with and even picked us up at the station. It was a delightful way to spend the evening and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to try making sushi.

Authentic Japanese Sushi Making Experience - I took the lesson with my 12 year old son and 8 year old daughter. We are Japanese and Canadian family based in Tokyo, so we thought we knew about Japanese sushi. THIS was more than we expected! It is fun and kids-friendly lesson that you can learn how to make authentic Japanese sushi like Nigiri, Rolls, Inari and even Gunkan from scratch. Akemi has a lot of ways to bring our sushi making to another level. All the ingredients were very fresh and top quality. Besides, you would appreciate their hospitality. We had a great time. We will definitely come back and take the lesson again. Thank you so much!

Wonderful Time - I took the lesson with my son. He’s in the 6th grade, and he’s never tried cooking, so I was a little anxious about whether he would be able to make sushi, but he paid close attention as he participated in the lesson, asking a lot of questions, and he enjoyed making the sushi. My son said, “The explanations were easy to understand, and the sushi was delicious!” When we made the nigiri-sushi, everyone said together, “air→pinch→press…” Akemi carefully chooses all the ingredients, including the rice, the neta, the seaweed, and the red vinegar. The rice was very easy to press, and really delicious. We could choose alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages to drink with lunch, and I picked a Japanese sake called SOUTEN. It was smooth and refreshing, and very tasty! Making sushi was more fun than I expected, and I learned a lot.
