Shanghai is rich with history. - Travel Guide China has been awesome, Shanghai is the third and final leg of our tour. Someone was waiting at the airport when we exited baggage claim, out to the pickup point and on our way to the hotel. Shanghai is an amazing city with so much to see and experience. There is so much history here to absorb, one day is not enough. Sophie, our guide for the day made sure we experience as much as possible in one day. When she left us at the end she made sure that we understood what time to be ready for the airport in two days. Sophie made clear that their agent would get us to the airport and checked in on our flight. She also said not to hesitate to contact her with any questions the next day as we were on our own. It’s the little things and personal touches that make our adventures smooth and stress less. First time visiting China I would definitely recommend China Travel Group for a smooth experience.

Ryan with Travel China Guide was amazing! - Ryan is an amazing tour guide! He is super knowledgeable regarding all of the best places to visit in Shanghai, he had an extensive knowledge of Shanghai's history, geographics, and architecture. His command of the English language was excellent, especially his vocabulary which is better than most native speakers. He took great care of us. We especially enjoyed the Yu Gardens and seeing the awesome skyline from various parts of the city and the river. The driver was also excellent, caring, and very safe. He arrived an hour early to make sure he was on time. (Sorry I don't remember his name, he's also a German tour guide.) Traveling throughout China with Travel China Guide (Marco Polo), Ryan was our 5th Travel China Guide tour guide, and his driver was our 9th driver with the various transfers, they are all dedicated professionals each having worked for 10 to 15 years in their field, we were very, very impressed by their professionalism, care and compassion. Dinner at the top (45th floor) of the Radisson (not included in the tour) in the rotating restaurant provided great sights and a fun time. It was a first class meal, but was a little pricey.

One Day Isn't Enough for Shanghai - Our one day tour of Shanghai as part of Travel China Guide's 14 day package was derailed because Macron and Xi were meeting in Shanghai. Security was pervasive and really restricted our movements and the locations we could visit. Because we couldn't take the river tour of the Bund in the day time, we took it by night. Bonanza! Don't take the tour except at night. The buildings along the Bund put on a really spectacular light show which is not to be missed. Our guide, Sophie Lee, was the most knowledgeable and English-fluent guide we had at any time in the tour. (All the guides have good comprehension, good reading and writing skills and large vocabularies. What they lack is speaking skills because they very apparently haven't spent enough time conversing with and listening to native English speakers. As a result their pronunciation is very difficult to understand.) Sophie also took us to a restaurant that had the best food we ate in China. If you go to China, spend at least three days in Shanghai. It's an enormous city with lots to offer including the best food in China. The Travel China Guide tour put us on an 8 hour train trip to Shanghai followed by a two hour bus ride from the train station to our hotel, arriving after midnight. If you have the option of adjusting parts of your tour, try to avoid the long train ride, the late arrival and the bus. The MagLev train goes from the train station to the Bund in a few minutes and is a thrill all by itself at 300 miles an hour.
