Highlights
  • Pujiang Cruise Ship - The tour begins with an evening cruise along the Huangpu River, which splits the Bund into two parts: Pu Dong and Pu Xi, meaning “east of the river” and “west of the river” respectively. Locals revere the Huangpu as the Mother River, and as you take in the illuminated sights from the deck of your evening cruise, you’ll see why.
  • The Bund (Wai Tan) - Watching the lights from the boat feels like a dream on both sides of the Bund.
  • Heping Fandian - The Peace Hotel was the hub of Shanghai’s nightlife in the 1920s and 30s.
  • Nanjing Lu (Nanjing Road) - Nanjing Road is famed as China’s premier shopping street. It is a pedestrian-only street, but you can opt for a trolley tour instead of walking.

Additional Information

The Bund symbolizes Shanghai’s fusion of timeless and contemporary elements. It’s a high-profile riverside district and distinctly recognized as the city’s iconic hallmark. The area’s sense of expansiveness and openness provide a unique experience unparalleled in Shanghai.

The adventure begins with a twilight journey along the Huangpu River, which cleaves the Bund into two halves, Pu Dong and Pu Xi, translating to ‘east of river’ and ‘west of river’. The Huangpu is reverently referred to as the Mother River by locals. As you witness the brilliant lights from the deck of your dusk voyage, its significance will become evident.

Post-cruise, a leisurely walk along the Bund is planned, en route to the historic Peace Hotel, renowned as the epicenter of Shanghai’s vibrant nightlife during the 1920s and 30s. Further, we embark on a trolley ride to marvel at Nanjing Road’s spectacular nighttime panorama.

A Cruise You Shouldn't Miss - None other than any other cruise as was thrilled over the many attractions of Shanghai's architecture and modern skyscrapers especially in the limelight of the night with the amazing sparkling neon lights while cruising along the bunks on the top deck of cruise enjoying the cooling breeze and the overwhelmed beauty.

Awesome nightline of Shanghai - The cruise was nice. The boat takes you along the Huangpu river, close enough to take great shots of the lights and buildings. The Bund looks so grand with its lights. No need to rush. Just your tickets and be on time. People were rushing up the boat for god knows why! There is plenty of room. Just go straight to the top deck for good photo shots.

Awesome view of all the lights and displays on the river - This was well worth doing when in Shanghai. A great way to see the river and its traffic going up and down. The light show/s were just amazing. Being able to seem them on both sides of the river was incredible. Highly recommend

Great Light Show - Even though it was bitterly cold, the colour in this cruise warmed your heart. It was excellent. The lighting of the Bund(with it golden glow) to the bright ever changing colours of the tall building made this a special night. Not to be missed.

Beautiful lights - I thought this was a great way to see the Shanghai skyline all lit up at night. It was very crowded on the boat, but I still thought it worthwhile to do.

Great Tour Escort/Guide!! - When we booked our tour via phone for 5/3/2019, we were not told that our booking date was scheduled on a Chinese holiday. Upon our arrival at our hotel in Shanghai we received a call from Viator stating that a major part of the tour was canceled due to the holiday and that all other guests had re-booked to a following day. Because we only had that night in Shanghai we agreed to take the river cruise part of the tour, without the trolley ride in Shanghai. We were very disappointed but our tour guide Tom Yu made up for the missing part of our tour. He was wonderful in so many ways: stayed by our side on the crowded river cruise, was very informative about every sight we saw, answered all of our questions, took us for a walk where we should have had the trolley ride, had us picked up and taken back to our hotel, did all of this and more even tho what would have been his group tour turned out to be a private tour for just my husband and me. His kindness, smiling attitude and amazing knowledge made us feel comfortable and glad that we did not cancel our tour. He deserves at least 5 stars for his excellence as our tour guide! We gave 4 stars only because Viator should have known in advance that only half of the tour would be allowed on this annual holiday in China. Tom was the best!!

Best way to enjoy the Bund. Tips for better enjoyment. - Advantages: - Most comfortable way to enjoy the bund, obviously because there is no need to walk or to squeeze with the other people in the streets. - Possibly the only way you get to capture the grand image of the Old side beside the New side of The Bund since you're right in the middle, on the river. What are available? - Banquet type of seating on the ferry, with large glass windows for you to enjoy watching the Bund. However, you’ll probably be able to take better photos from the deck since it is unblocked by the glass windows’ reflections. Seats on the deck are more limited so go up early! That’s where you can also enjoy the gentle breeze as the ship cruises along. - Drinks and light snacks can be purchased from the drinks counter - You can choose to pay 50rmb more to enter the VIP lounge where they have sofas and a complimentary drink - Tour guide also gives some good introduction of the various noteworthy buildings along the Bund so it’s a more meaningful to know the historical and cultural background of the buildings Tips: You can purchase the tickets at the ferry center at the original price by yourself, but be warned, tickets for each hourly session run out quickly so you may only be able to get tickets for the next session i.e. gotta wait for an hour at the ferry center. If you want to eliminate that uncertainty, it may be wiser to just book your desired time slot for the River Cruise tour in advance. ALSO, be prepared to get overcharged by taxis after the ferry ride because there were very few taxis in that area after 9pm. We had to negotiate to pay 80rmb for a five-minute ride back to our hotel! Most cabbies quoted us 100rmb!

Rocky start, but fun. - The place is beautiful but the company’s numbers are all inactive which makes contacting them, especially as a foreigner quite difficult.

Don’t bother trying the tour with this organizer - Uninterested. Socially awkward. Robotic. Impatient. We were happier to roam and explore ourselves...
