  • People’s Square (Renmin Guang Chang) - Your tour guide will meet you at your hotel at 09:00 a.m.. Then, we will transfer to People’s Square and start the highlight tour.
    Shanghai People’s Square is located at the very center of Shanghai and is the demarcation point of East Nanjing Road and West Nanjing Road. It is a flourishing place for people to look around.
    Before 1949, the area of Shanghai People’s Square and the People’s Park was used as a famous horse racetrack which was built in 1861, honored as the ‘No.1 Racetrack in Far East’. Visitors still can find the ruins for the former main building standing at the northeast part of the People’s Square.
    We will see many scenic spots around people’s square, such as the new Municipal Government Mansion, Shanghai Museum, Shanghai Grand Theater, Shanghai History Museum the Urban Planning Exhibition Hall. Later, we will visit Shanghai Museum.
  • Shanghai Museum (Shanghai Bowuguan) - Located in the center of Shanghai in People’s Square, Shanghai Museum is a large museum of ancient Chinese art. Its style and presentation surround visitors with artifacts demonstrating ancient wisdom and philosophy. The exterior design of the round dome and the square base symbolizes the ancient idea of a round heaven and a square land.
    The museum is divided into eleven galleries and three exhibition halls. The eleven galleries cover most of the major categories of Chinese art: Ancient Bronze, Ancient Ceramics, Paintings, Calligraphy, Ancient Sculpture, Ancient Jade, Coins, Ming and Qing Furniture, Seals, and Minority Nationalities

Then, we will walk around Nanjing Road, exploring surrounding communities and the thinnest building.

  • Nanjing Lu (Nanjing Road) - Nanjing Road is considered to be the ‘No. 1 commercial street in China’, which has been a landmark for this city for a long time. Along its 5.5 kilometers, you will find over 600 shops that on average are visited by some 1.7 million people each day. Here, you can purchase everything wanted, spanning from special and cheap souvenirs to the luxurious world famous brands. You can also visit the surrounding neighborhoods and the thinnest building.

The thinnest in Ningbo Road is known as Paper Building(纸片楼).
The building was once reported by British Daily Mail, stated as perhaps the world’s flattest and thinnest building. Standing diagonally in the front of the the building, it just looks like a piece of paper. The old house had four floors, not all that thin; it takes the shape of triangular polygon. This novel and strange building still has a large number of residents.

Then, we will walk around Yuayuan Old Street, experiencing the original Shanghai lifestyle and visiting a classical garden and Chinese pharmacy.

  • Yuyuan Old Street - Shanghai Old Street, historically called Miaoqian Dajie, is an old business street that has a combination of tourist attractions, shops, entertainment and cultural exhibits. It owes its special social attractions and rich commercial background to the fact that the earliest bank, gold shop, jeweler’s store, wine shop and tea house of the city were all to be found here. Visiting the old alleys of Shanghai is a great way to discover the traditional culture of this city and experience the real life of the Shanghainese.
    We will walk along Yuyuan Old Street and visit a classical garden.
  • Yu Garden (Yuyuan) - Yu Garden was a private garden of the Pan family in the Ming Dynasty. It was the largest and most prestigious of its era in Shanghai after it was completed.
    Yu Garden is small in size, but it contains all elements that a classical Chinese garden should have. The pavilions, halls, rockeries, ponds and cloisters all have unique characteristics. The exquisite layout, beautiful scenery, and the artistic style of the garden architecture have made the garden one of the highlights of Shanghai.
    You can walk to the Zigzag Nine Bend Bridge. Chinese people believe that the number nine symbolizes auspiciousness. Walking across the Bridge is said to bring people good luck. The Bridge leads to Mid-Lake Pavilion Teahouse, which is the oldest teahouse in Shanghai.
  • Suzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Museum - This old Chinese pharmacy was built in the Qing Dynasty in 1783. It is one of the four famous traditional Chinese medicine stores in Shanghai. It still retains a very traditional operating and decorating style. The architecture is old and beautiful, and there are few better places to learn about the use of traditional Chinese Medicine.

At noon, we will enjoy traditional Chinese dim sum - Xiaolongbao for lunch.
Then, we will admire the western-style architectures around Former French Concession area.

  • Xintiandi - Xintiandi is a tourist attraction that preserves the historical and cultural features of Shanghai and integrates Chinese and western culture. Xintiandi is divided into northern and southern parts. The south is dominated by modern architecture. The north is dominated by Shikumen old buildings. Composed of Shikumen and modern architectural style, now it has become a hot and fashionable pedestrian street in the center of the city. Actually, it stands for the popular and leisurely life style of this city’s new generation. The outdoor cafes, bars and romantic restaurants can be seen everywhere.
  • Shikumen Museum, Shanghai - It is an old shikumen house built in the 1920s that has been preserved and renovated. The museum was built according to the model of one household in the 1920s. There are seven main exhibition rooms, namely, the guest room, the study room, the old people’s room, the master room, the daughter room, the pavilion room and the oven room. The story of a shikumen family runs through the whole visit. It not only shows the unique shikumen architectural culture of Shanghai, but also reproduces the living space and lifestyle of Shanghai people in those days.
  • 1933 Old Millfun - 1933 Old Millfun, or 1933 Laochangfang in Chinese, or simply 1933, was originally a slaughterhouse, built in the year 1933 at the intersection of Hongkou Port and Shajing Port, not far from the Bund. Nowadays, it has been transformed into a cluster of creative art precincts and has become the center of Shanghai’s fashion, design, shopping and entertainment. We can see Lattice Windows, Umbrella Columns, Covered Bridges, Central Atrium and Sky Theater.
    Then, we will transfer to Pudong to see Shanghai’s financial district and visit Jin Mao Tower.
  • Pudong New Area - As a new and bustling district, Pudong offers visitors some of the most modern attractions, businesses, skyscrapers and shopping malls, all featuring the latest in entertainment, technology and fashion.
    We will walk along Lujiazui Ring Bridge which is good place to photograph skyscrapers.
  • Jin Mao Tower - Being the forth tallest building only to Shanghai Tower, Shanghai World Financial Center and Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai, Jin Mao Tower is located in the center of Lujiazui Finance and Trade Zone in Pudong. It is 420.5 meters (almost 1,380 feet) tall and covers an area of 2.3 hectares (5.68 acres). The architect, Adrian D. Smith, of this skyscraper ingeniously combined the elements of traditional Chinese culture with the newest architectural styles of the time, which makes it one of the best-constructed buildings in China.
    The 88th floor-the highest floor, is reserved for the tower’s observation deck, which can hold 1000 people at any one time. From there, visitors can get a sweeping view of the scenery on the banks of Huangpu River. If the weather is nice enough, you have a chance to see a spectacular sunset.
