Highlights
  • Sitka - Sitka’s Bald Eagle Center operates with bird care professionals assisted by volunteers to rescue birds, provide them with rehabilitative care and hopefully release them back into the wild. After your introduction to the center, a presentation with one of the Center’s educational birds will take place. Time will be available to view the flight center, clinic window, outside deck habitat areas and gift shop.

  • Sitka National Historic Park/Totem Park - Next, you’ll visit the Sitka National Historical Park, where the 1804 “Battle of Alaska”, was fought. The park hosts totem lined trails, cultural exhibits and carving rooms where native Alaskan artisans demonstrate their totemic art form. Walk the nature trail, view cultural exhibits and video presentation, or talk with local native artists about their cultural art form.

  • Sitka - The final stop is visiting the Fortress of the Bears, which allows you get within 25 feet of Alaska’s brown bears in a naturalized setting. You will enjoy observing 3 populations of bears from a covered viewing platform and interact with an experienced naturalist. After the bear tour, you may disembark on the main street to shop or be returned directly to the tender pier.

Tour was great (Baranof Tours), Viator process needs some attention to detail. - Fortress of the Bears was fabulous! Raptor center was great and informative! Totem park was beautiful. Viator administration needs some work. Informed us tour was cancelled when it wasn’t. No fault of tour vendor, purely a Viator thing. All worked out in the end. Christian was a great guide (Baranof Tours was terrific, especially in figuring out Viator error).

Great excursion - Enjoyable tour for the whole family! Our guide made a great effort in including the kids and keeping it interesting for them too! We booked separately from our cruise and had no issues.

Totems, eagles and bears... OH MY! - Jim was thee best tour guide! If you're ever in Sitka, definitely book this excursion. Jim was earnestly well versed on the ares and the animals. Not only that, but he took us to get hot dogs too, lol!!!

Glorified Uber ride to places you could walk to yourself. - It was a glorified Uber ride to places that we could have walked to ourselves. Supposed to be small group, but really 3 vans of 12 traveling together. Our driver was kind of clueless didn't want to wear his seat belt and alarm kept ringing until he would finally put it on 5 minutes in after we said something. We asked him questions but he didn't know the answers. He admitted he doesn't have a spiel about what we were seeing so not a guided tour. He didn't stop to take pictures like other van driver did. And didn't really drive well. So now for the "tour" itself. It was very rushed with not enough time at each location. First stop raptor trust. Tickets if we went on own would be $16. It was cool seeing the injured birds and learning about them. We only had 30 mins to explore. Next stop fortress of the bears. That was disappointing. I saw 4 bears living in an enclosure kind of small. Felt sorry for them. I've seem better ones at zoos. $15 ticket cost to get in. Next stop totem pole park. Getting off the van ( no picture he was like well I guess we could do this later) We walked to the salmon bridge. The driver did talk about the salmon and give some info. Then said walk around with only about 15 minutes then time to get back to the van. You need WAY more time than that. Visitors center was very informative, movie to watch and native artifacts which was free!. That alone was over15 minutes. The totem park is 113 acres with 20 totem poles. You need at least an hour for that alone. While walking around we found a path that lead right to the raptor trust! We did not take the van back. We stayed longer explored and walked back to town. The totem pole park is an 8 minute walk from town. We could have walked to the park and did the raptors on our own and it would have cost $16. Bears not worth seeing. I paid $339 for 2 people and admission cost was only $62. It was by no means a guided tour, way overpriced. Don't do. Very disappointing.

Terrible provider, terrible communication - Could not get tickets or find any information on the excursion. Got to port and asked everyone if they lnew anything about this tour….. no one did. Terrible website Terrible communication by your group Never found them and had to book a similar excursion with another tour group. If I could give you zero stars that would be generous. I will be requesting a full refund for services not provided!

0 stars - Probably the worst experience I’ve ever had on vacation. Kept receiving emails telling me to claim my tickets yet could not get to the page. Cut on sure and try to find these clowns and they were nowhere to be found. Asked everybody and nobody had heard of them. Tried to call the phone number and it sends me to a phone number in the United Kingdom. Great customer service. if you’re going to do an excursion Alaska look elsewhere. Feel free to contact me Viator.

Find Another Option - We booked with this group so we could have a small group tour. Easy to get in and out, not have to have unnecessary waiting around. The "van" had trouble so we had to wait for another vehicle. We were going to be put in a van group with another family that had added a few members to their group, with a man with a wheelchair. It would have been nice to know this could happen because it slows things down. If we had know this was possible we could have tried to make other arrangements. We were traveling with friends that needed assistance and this was our turn to have time without the need to do a tour with ADA restrictions. We fully support ADA tours and are grateful they are available. It ended up there was not enough space on that van so we were told we were going to be in a comfortable Cadillace Escalade. We were with 3 other passengers and ended up in the back of the car that had a 3rd row seat that would only fit very small children...not comfortable. We were told we were going to change into a van so we could all be more comfortable. The driver talked constantly and missed the turn for their office. The driver dropped the 5 of us off at a new first destination, and then met us at the location at the end with a van. I tried to pay in advance, but they wanted to wait for the excursion to be over. I tried to pay at the end and they were busy and not able to take my payment on the phone. I was told they would call me back to get payment. They did call and I gave my credit card and was told it would show up on my billing statement as a funeral home. Two days later another person called to get payment, I told them I had already paid. they said "oh, okay." The accounting is a mess. Over all it was poorly run, the vehicles were not great and the accounting was not managed well.
