Highlights
  • Lund Cathedral - Your guide will show you the Cathedral that was once the seat of power in Northern Europe and the historically most important church of Denmark, despite being in Sweden today. You get some time explore inside or a quick prayer (if open).
  • Lundagard Park - In the park Lundagård there are some easily overlooked but historically important monument. Called Rune stones, the small monuments where put up by Vikings at the time of the foundation of Lund around year 970. The guide tells you about them and Lund’s Viking legacy.
  • Lund University Main Building - The University main building and the adjacent Academic Castle not only provide a good photo opportunity, but also represent the core of what Lund is today, and is the site for many of the students’ joke-like events.
  • HSB Turning Torso - The main landmark of Malmö is Scandinavia’s tallest skyscraper. Designed by Santiago Calatrava, one of the biggest names in contemporary architecture around the world, it stands as a symbol of Malmö and its radical change from just a couple of decades before. The modern residential area around the Turning Torso follows suit, with a view across the water to Denmark.

Entry into the Turning Torso is only for residents and not possible during the tour.

  • Malmo Saluhall - Malmö Food Court is both an architectural landmark and an excellent place for lunch. The options include cuisines from Sweden and around the world. One of very few places in Malmö that serves good Swedish meatballs.
  • St. Petri (St. Peter’s Church) - Despite being modern in approach, Malmö has an old church too. As you will learn, Malmö is just not very sentimental about it.
  • Stortorget - Walk around Malmö Old Town. See the mix of old and new, and learn about how Malmö became Swedish instead of Danish in the first place.
  • Little Square - The Little Square holds many building preserved from centuries long past, and is the true representtaion of old Malmö.
  • Kungsparken - Malmö has the nickname Sweden’s Town of Parks, and the King’s Park is the pride of them all. Built for rich factory owners in the industrial era, it sports plenty exotic plants, but is now open for everyone.
  • Malmohus castle - Malmö’s Danish era castle is today the city’s museums. Even without going in it can tell about a distant past time when Malmö played in high politics and started a civil war against the king, or a less distant past when the museum closed to take Holocaust refugees.
  • Malmo Live Concert Hall - While walking through Malmö you pass by Malmö Live, a modern building with a center for finer culture & a concert hall. It has a big collection of sculptures both inside and outside.

Additional Information

The guide will meet you at Malmö Central Station to board our air-conditioned bus. We are a small group of 6 people who will take us to Lund. Arriving in Lund, we learn about the Vikings, who founded the town more than a thousand years ago, and see several of their monumental Rune Stones. This is followed by looking at part of the University and the goofy student events that the entire place centres on today. We finish off Lund by a visit to the mediaeval Lund cathedral, once the seat of the largest Christian archdiocese in the world, before we head off to Malmö. There you have lunch at your restaurant of choice in Malmö Saluhall, itself a landmark.

After lunch we hear the story of Malmö, a place that is the constant underdog. Malmö painstakingly works its way up to be wealthy and important, only to crash as the rug is pulled from beneath its feet, for the process to start all over again. Read more on our website.

  • Possibility to stay in Malmö independently after the tour ends.
  • Moderate walking is required during the tour.
  • Tour will not run if not at least 4 people are booked.
  • A current valid passport is required on the day of travel.

A tour well worth the money - This particular tour from Copenhagen to Lund and Malmo, Sweden was a great experience. Our tour guide, Mustapha, was also outstanding. The audio history to and from was excellent and Mustapha took the time to also augment much that made for an awesome trip! This trip/you is highly recommended.

Sweden in a Day - Do it! - We scheduled this tour on our last day in Copenhagen - and it was one of our favorite experiences on our entire 2-week Scandinavian trip. Our guide Petra was amazing! She was ready & waiting for us in the lobby of our hotel as the tour began with her driving us across the Oresund Bridge and into Sweden. Both Lund & Malmö were fantastic. We learned so much history from Petra, but also an understanding of what issues are currently very important to those cities & to Sweden as a country. She also recommended the Swedish Meatballs for lunch in Malmö - and they did not disappoint! Lastly, we rode in the first class car on the train back to Copenhagen’s Central Station. When we planned our trip, we were hoping to spend a day in Sweden - and doing it with Petra was absolutely perfect!

YES!! EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS. LOVED IT - Our tour guide Stina went above and beyond to share her wonderful insights of her beautiful Home Country, Sweden. From start to finish, the tour was filled with valuable facts in addition to her own personal perspective of Swedish Life. Lund and Malmo were very lovely. Even during light rain during our tour, the trip was very enjoyable and fun. I highly recommend this tour to anyone in Copenhagen looking to visit these neighboring Swedish towns. I GIVE THIS TOUR AND STINA OUR TOUR GUIDE TYE HIGHEST RATING OFFERED. EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS

A personalized tour of southern Sweden - Loved, loved, loved this tour. We spent the day with Stina and learned so much about the history and culture of southern Sweden. She specifically asked about our interests and made sure to thoroughly address those topics. My teenagers were super engaged (which is amazing for that age group). I would highly recommend this tour. It was a highlight of our trip.

Fun and Informative Tour of Malmö and Lund - We were so fortunate to have Petra as a guide on this tour of Skåne! Each stop on the tour was beautiful and full of history, made even better by our engaging and informative tour guide. Any question we had was answered perfectly, whether it was about the region’s history or what life in Malmö is like today. Petra made sure to take care of us and the other couple on our tour as if we were already been friends! This tour is an absolute treat. We highly recommend taking this tour as a day trip from København!

Relaxed and informative tour - Stina was very knowledgeable and keen to find out what our interests were to be able to tailor the tour accordingly. We were lucky to be the only guests on this trip and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were able to stay after the tour for a couple of hours and enjoyed some falafel for lunch.

Southern Sweden tour - Petra was a fabulous tour guide and knowledgeable! It’s a great walking tour through southern Sweden, but would have liked a bit more depth to it. Would recommend if staying for an extra day in Copenhagen and unsure what else to do.
