Highlights

The tour begins with a hotel pick-up at 08:00, followed by a 2-hour journey to Niš. Upon arrival, we will meet our local guide and start the tour with a historical recount of Čegar Hill, taking us back to the era of Stevan Sinđelić and the famous Čegar battle. The next stop is the Skull Tower, a breathtaking site where we will quietly discuss its history. We will then proceed along Tsarigrad Road to Niška Banja, a spa located 7 km from the center of Niš. Here, we will stroll and discuss the beautiful villas, a king, a prime minister, notable events, Agatha Christie, and the old times. Following the Orient Express drive, we will enjoy a memorable tram ride. A short bus ride on Via Militaris will take us to the Mediana archaeological site, where we will delve into the history of Constantine the Great and the Edict of Milan. Our ancient history walk continues at the Fortress, where we will explore its gates, hammam, arsenal, powder magazines, old Roman streets, a mosque, Felix Kanitz, the first prison, the red carpet, and the Film Festival. We will then visit the “Building where history lives,” the Castle, and learn about Anton Avgustinčić, Đorđe Krstić, Branko Miljković, and other great artists. The walk concludes at Kazandžijsko Sokače, the old Niš street, where the group can relax and enjoy a cup of coffee.

After the official tour, we will visit Vinski Podrum Malča, one of the best wineries in the region, for a tour, wine tasting, and lunch.

We will then return to Skopje via an alternative route to visit the Monastery Prohor Pčinjski, a significant site in Macedonian history.

Finally, we will return to Skopje.

Tour company keen to listen to feedback and solve problems. - Our tour guide in Niš, Merlitza, was outstanding, it felt like we were being shown around as a friend. We had some other issues with the tour organisation and itinerary, but the company was very quick to understand our issues and to right them to everybody's satisfaction, and for that I cannot fault the overall experience. Visit Skopje and visit Niš. Both are fascinating :)

Awesome trip and best driver! - We had a wonderful one day trip to Niš with Dragan. Ae have traveled to over 50 countries, and learned the importance of having a good guide and driver. We asked the owner to give us the best driver, with plenty of experience and a sense of humor, and he did not disappoint! We had a blast with Dragan during our almost 3 hour drive to Niš, and learned so much from him! He was not only a great conversation, but also a kind person. Our guide in Niš was also very knowledgeable, and took time to answer all of our questions. We had delicious, traditional Serbian food at a non-touristy restaurant, with the best bread and dessert! Overall, I would highly recommend going on this tour to see the south part of Serbia, learning more about the Ottoman Empire, and tasting authentic southern Serbian food. Make sure to ask for Dragan for the optimal experience!
