Wonderful day one in Greece - My husband and I were coming to Greece a day early for a prearranged vacation package and decided to splurge and for a private tour. Nikos was the perfect guide for us!!! From our initial interactions via the app, Nikos was very responsive and made great suggestions for our personalized tour. We requested Nikos picked us up from the airport to begin the tour and he was standing there waiting even though our flight was early and we only had carryon luggage! Nikos had a comfortable and clean car that he used to drive us to sites. We went to the Ancient Theater in Thorikos before continuing to the Temple of Poseidon in Sounion. We continued the day with a beach walk and visit to Lake Vouliageni. We wrapped with an incredible sea side lunch before Nikos drive us to our hotel in Athens. Nikos was full of historical and antidotal information about the sites and Greek culture. Very knowledgeable, professional, and friendly - we would definitely use Nikos again and recommend him to friends and family who visit Athens.

Best Guided Experience Ever. - This was simply the best tour we have ever been on. All of that was made possible because of our guide for the afternoon, John. His easy going manner made him a breeze to talk to and his ability to “teach” without us ever feeling that he was being pedantic made learning so enjoyable. . He was a joy to spend time with. John’s knowledge of history, culture and humanity goes so far beyond Ancient Greece. By the end of the tour we truly felt like family. What an amazing experience. We will, beyond a doubt, spend time with him again. Best money spent ever!

Perfectly planned day in Athens. - Nikos was an exceptional tour guide for our final day in Athens. He was prompt, extremely knowledgeable, had great communication, and it was like spending the day with a good friend. He even found the perfect local beach for our family to enjoy a swim. All the locations he chose were wonderful to visit and we learned so much from him. We arrived at Cape Sounio at the perfect time to enjoy the site and then settle in for a stunning sunset. Local local local! - This tour was an absolute treat. We were immersed in the ways of the locals with Manos. No slick touristy jargon just authentic Greek vibes. His knowledge of his home city and of Greece overall seemed limitless. We traveled around the coast and saw gorgeous beaches and ate at two brilliant but different restaurants. An upscale place with a view to die for, and a seaside tavern with amazing fresh food. Manos was super patient with our many and varied questions about history, culture, politics, life as a local, and it was interesting comparing Greece to our home New Zealand.

The best tour guide EVER - John was the best tour guide we have ever had, and we have been on many tours in other countries. He was exceptionally educated, kind, informative, generous, fun and dazzled us with stories of Greek Mythology. In a perfect world, everyone who visits this beautiful country would have a chance to experience being guided by John. Thank you!!!

A wonderful location - must see trip - The views really were amazing and our guide John was terrific - he showed us lots of hidden places. The temple was a real gem . We will be back to this part Greece.

Excellent tour with Ioannis! - We were a group of four adults and Ioannis took us on a private tour of Sounio and Temple of Poseidon. Ioannis made our tour entertaining and interesting! He was very knowledgeable of the area and explained everything in an way easy to understand. When he was driving us back to our hotel, he took us to some interesting places and he even gave us some goodies from a Michelin star bakery. Nice touch!!! I would highly recommend taking this tour with Ioannis when visiting the Athens!

Great day spent exploring with Nikos - We had an incredible day with Nikos. His knowledge of the Greek history made the areas we visited come to life. The pastries were wonderful, the whole trip was great. I would highly recommend it!

Great adventure not far from Athens - Fitoumi was very knowledgeable about the area and was flexible to shape activities around our personality. Lunch in town after seeing the temple was down to earth and an authentic Greek experience. He was even able to escort us to the parliament to catch changing of the guards!

Messy and exhausting experience with the hosts - never again - While I understand that WithLocals connects you to locals, I don't know if they've vet out the locals well enough. I'm sure if I had a better host I'd have a better review, but it's unfortunate that the level of quality differs with certain locals. First off, my first booking for a tour the host cancelled on me two days before the day (after booking a month in advance) with no one else to fill in -- which altered our days in Athens. We decided to try again the next week on our last day in Athens with a different host. This host pretty much crushed the experience (see below for specific notes). I also noticed that the review rating average does not accurately depict the reviews left - for example, someone with a low review but a handful of 5 star reviews still shows up as 5 stars? That seems misleading. On to my issue of my specific host. The host was very nice and showed us cool spots BUT - was exhausting to be around. I don’t think we got the value we would have hoped given the time and cost we put into this experience. There were multiple faults with the host that made the experience tough, as detailed below. The host's driving was erratic and made our group nauseous. The host also talked a LOT even when we were trying to enjoy a quiet moment, and would interrupt us mid convo our while we ere having individual 1:1s among ourselves. Most of his comments were repetitive without getting to the point, so it was exhausting to hear him talk. At the restaurant, he tried to order for our group even though we had picky eaters in our group (and we were paying for it…) He ordered items to the server that we would not eat, and a member of my party had to ask to remove the items after. I’m not sure why he thought he knew what we were going to order because we were discussing the menu without him. The whole experience we felt rushed, as he kept telling us the times we needed to arrive at the temple — at no point were we delayed or even close to being delayed. We felt rushed at the spots along the coastline. At times he would repeat what we were about to do and deadlines and we seemed to spend more time doing that than actually exploring and seeing the cape for ourselves. We were looking forward to getting back to the hotel ASAP due to these experiences and did not enjoy our last night in Greece the way we had hoped. Unfortunately, with all of these collective issues, I'm not sure I can trust this service again since the hosts don't always seem reliable and there's no vetting that seems to happen to ensure the experience is great.
