Highlights
  • Dineh Bekeyah Tours - This tour is a custom tour and are not necessarily in the order below. Each guide has their own itinerary and have a specific place and time to be throughout the tour.

The 3 hour tour makes a stop at the famous John Ford’s Point where many of John Wayne’s western cinematic movies were film, and also the Transformers: Age of Extinction featuring Mark Wahlberg. Next, your guide will drive to The Backcountry of the park and escort you to the arches.

At “Sun’s Eye Arch” you will be standing at a specific degree to look up into the rock arch and see why it is named Sun’s Eye. At the same location you will also see Petroglyphs and hear your guide’s stories.

You will also travel to the “Big Hogan.” The Big Hogan is a great place to take family pictures and lie against the rocks and feel its warmth. Your guide will provide stories and suggest great photo shots.

In the Backcountry is the “Ear of the Wind.” This is the largest arch in the park, and your guide will escort you to a photogenic spot where you can take photographs.

You will be guided to the Totem Pole and Yei Bi Cheii Monuments where you will be able to take photographs and hear the cultural stories behind each monument.

Your guide will meet you in the lobby of your hotel, then get ready for a scenic drive to Monument Valley in a comfortable all-terrain vehicle— allowing for exclusive access to parts of the park that are inaccessible to smaller cars.

The area, located on a Navajo Reservation and considered a sacred healing region by Native American tribes, is tough to navigate on your own. But your guide will walk you through the history of the Navajo tribal park and the background of each stunning natural formation. With your choice of a sunrise or sunset tour, you’re bound for incredible, camera-ready views during the sun-kissed time of day known by photographers as the “Golden Hour.”

The itineraries are fully customizable, so you’ll have your pick of some incredible spots, including iconic rock formations like John Ford’s Point, which served as film backdrop in many John Wayne Westerns. One of the most photographed formations is the Yei Bi Chei monuments, which resemble a line of tribal dancers. You’ll also get an opportunity to take pictures of the Big Hogan, a sandstone cave chamber, and Ear of the Wind, a mesmerizing, crimson-hued arch.

At the North Window where you will have a chance to take pictures of the Mittens and Butte at different angles. Your tour guide will then slowly and safely transport you back to your departure point.

Lee is an AMAZING tour guide! - We were so lucky to get Lee as our guide. He was not only knowledgeable about the area but definitely knows how to engage everyone. Beautiful place! Out of the Grand Canyon, Saguara National Park, Tombstone, Sedona and Las Vegas. Monument Valley was our favorite place. Worth the drive if you are far away. Thank you Lee!

Plan for the Sunrise Tour - Joining a tour at 5:00 am can be a challenge but the experience of viewing the sunrise at Monument Valley is extraordinary. Our guide, Harry Nez Jr. is excellent. My photographic experience was enhanced by Harry's in depth knowledge of photography and knowing the perfect locations to set up for the shots I was hoping to get with my digital camera. When I pulled out my iPhone at the Sun's Eye, he showed me a technique for a panoramic capture -- which proved to be one of my favorite shots of the morning. All in all, most people opt for the sunset -- which is also beautiful. But the experience of sunrise is spectacular. And, you'll be happy with having Harry Nez as your photographic guide.

Enjoyed the tour with our great Guide - Our guide was named Leo, I believe. He was so very personable and knew so much about the area. He was willing to help by taking photos of the visitors in front of beautiful back grounds. He even helped me with my camera to get better settings to get the most out of my photographs. The evening was very windy and dusty but even with that, we enjoyed our tour.

So worthwhile and amazing! - We had an amazing sunset tour with Lee. He shared so much about this beautiful valley, Navajo culture, and his experiences growing up in the nation. So worth doing and this is a great company to tour with. Highly recommend them!

huge thumbs up to my guide, Harry. - I have to give a huge thumbs up to my guide, Harry. My mother and I are international tourists, but Harry received us very warmly. Our group departed on time with only 6 people, which ensured the quality of the tour and was very comfortable and relaxing. At the same time, Harry will introduce us seriously and play the flute. Thank you very much. Harry gave me and my family a perfect memory.

Spiritual heart of the Navajo Nation - I was astonished by the eroded terrain leaving behind only slender towers. Lee, our Diné guide, shared both traditional stories and personal stories, and left us with a greater appreciation of Navajo culture. My wife found the bouncy ride of the 4x4 on the rough road to be physically challenging, and for that reason, only four stars not five.

Our tour guide was disappointing. She was not into explaining anything to us.She lacked knowledge on the subject. - Monument valley is very worth seeing. We are giving our guide a bad review. Her name is Roz. She was more a driver than a guide. She knew nothing of how this beautiful wonder was made. She would drive us to each stop and not get out of the car while all the other guides would walk with their guests and explain to them the site. We were sitting in a open truck and she was in an enclosed part of the truck. I asked her to keep a distance from the other trucks so we wouldn't get dust and she basically ignored my request. She would get as close as possible to the other trucks. We swallowed a lot of dust. She did play the flute at one point and that was very nice. She also showed us how to take a certain panoramic photo. The tour was supposed to end at 8 pm, at 7:25 she informed us she was cutting the tour short because she said she would be penalized if she got later than 8 pm We were so surprised and she realized that we were upset so she said I will do the drive but without stopping or talking and that is what she did. We saw along the way other tour guides stopping and explaining to their guest letting them take pictures etc. We were very disappointed with this guide honestly she shouldn't be a guide. She doesn't like her job. I think she should be used exclusively as a driver and have another person be the guide. The tour operator is Dineh Bekeyah
