Highlights
  • The Mitten Buttes And Merrick Butte - As we set up the horses to assign based on experience, weight, and height. We’ll give you and our horse buddies a proper introduction. After you two get acquainted, we’ll start galloping towards the West Mitten Butte, where you get to be up close. Take pictures of the East Mitten and Merrick buttes at a distance. When viewed from the south, the buttes appear to be two gigantic mittens with their thumbs facing inwards. If you capture the Merrick Butte at an angle you see that it’s between the West & East Mitten Buttes. All three buttes are commonly seen together in many popular films and images. Its elevation is over 6,200 ft making it one of the tallest buttes in Monument Valley.
  • Sentinel Mesa - Located northwest of The Mittens is the Sentinel Mesa, a mountain with an elevation of over 6,400 ft. Most of the mesa is in the state of Utah, but a small southern section of it is in the state of Arizona. This breathtaking mesa can be seen from so many points.

Beautiful scenery - Very informative. Our guide was very helpful and knowledgeable. He took pics with our phones along the way. The horses were beautiful. One hour is perfect. Bring sun protection!

Such a great experience! - A MUST! This was so much fun and my parents and I absolutely enjoyed this tour! Gorgeous sceneries on our ride. It was a bit complicated to find and you have to pay a fee to enter the visitors center and access this location but it’s worth it.

The most authentic Monument Valley Experience - Riding around the monument valley with my family was a breathtaking experience. We really felt part of a western movie. Nikko was an amazing guide. She explained us about the American Indian history and the meaning of all plants and rocks monuments. Monument Valley is such a spiritual place, definitely a must see, and this experience with a horse makes it very authentic and bring you in places where you are alone with nature.

Great views, guide, and horses. - Beautiful views of the valley and monuments! Our guide was amazing, very knowledgeable about the history, Navajo stories, and horses. Check in process was easy and the tour is definitely worth the price, I learned more in the 1 hour on horseback than in the 2 previous times I’d visited Monument Valley on my own. The horses and trails were beginner-friendly which was perfect for our group.

Magical experience! - Great experience! Horses well treated, free as soon as possible. The guide was really sweet and kind, took tons of photos for us, gave us information about her Navajo people. The horses were very well educated, responded well to instructions without being trained to follow each other's buttocks. In short, a perfect experience! 😀

Best experience ever - Being able to experience Monument Valley from a horse was an awesome experience. Dion was our guide and he did a great job sharing details of the land, his culture and history of the Valley. He was kind and genuine, and you could tell he was proud of his Navajo heritage. We had not been on a horse in over 25 years, but we were very comfortable. Loved every minute of the tour! Big thanks to Dion for helping us enjoy the serenity of the Valley....on a horse!

Amazing ! - An incredible moment! I loved this hour horseback ride in Monument Valley. This is the best way to discover the places in my opinion. We take paths that no one else takes. The horses are very “safe” and you can totally trust them when you are a beginner. Our guides (a young couple) were very friendly and took photos of the (small) group separately. The important point, the horses are very well treated and maintained! We see that the guides love their animals and this is not the case everywhere! We will come back with pleasure! Special mention to our horses Apache and Mac, the greediest of the bunch.

Great but could be more clear - I loved this experience, was something new and interesting to do, beautiful landscapes and people. Just one thing, me and my friend got lost more than once because the direction on the app were messed up, so I really recommend to write a sign or something like that

We weren't 3 - Horseback riding is the best way to discover Monument Valley! The horses are well treated and did not seem to be exploited (advantage of coming in April?) some were sedated before the ride (those for children and older non-riders...) It is indicated on the site that the ride is for 3 people maximum, my companion and I being riders, we hoped to be able to gallop etc... There were ultimately 10 of us!! The guide was kind and allowed us to gallop for a small part of the ride but was afraid that our horses would drag the others away.. rightly so... Very disappointed not to have the 3-person ride as promised... The horses are still very nice, the guide too, it was a great time all the same!
