Two Gems Split and Trogir - This was an absolutely brilliant tour from a very knowledgable young man named Frane, who gave us wonderful perspectives from someone who has lived in Split his entire life. He offered us very interesting points of view and comparisons. Then it was on to Trogir which was approximately a 45 minute drive. This beautiful, quaint town is known to have a historic centre considered to be the most preserved medieval town in Central Europe. I fell in love! Split and Trogir were so much more than I could have ever imagined and this tour brought it all alive!

The guide everybody hopes to get - Jovan is a natural, enthusiastic presenter, which made the tour truly engaging. His commentary brought the palace to life. Jovan also provided thoughtful insight in Trogir, although we’re on the fence about whether that town was worth the trip. It was pretty, but not exceptional.

Beautiful cities, but a difficult mid-day environment - The mid-day heat and overwhelming influx of cruise ship tourists to Split made it difficult for our tour guide. This city is beautiful, and its history is amazing. Between vying for space with other tour groups and trying to find protective shady spots to stay out of the direct sun, however, it was a challenge for our group to stay together. He was knowledgeable about Split and Croatian history, but it was often difficult to hear or understand his presentation. When he gathered the group in the center of an open piazza or square, several tourists sought shade rather than stay with the group to hear his dialog. The bus ride from Split to Trogir was a welcome respite from the heat, but the pattern of escaping to the shade was repeated during the 1-hour spent in beautiful Trogir, as well. Our guide is to be applauded for his tenacity in a difficult environment, but it just wasn’t a fun tour. One suggestion is to organize the tour to give a break for a cool drink or quick snack mid-way; perhaps upon arrival in Trogir, rather than waiting until the end of the tour to offer “free time.” With a mid-tour break (especially from the mid-day heat), tour participants may feel a bit more energized to pay attention and follow along for the second half of the tour in Trogir.

Good but too short - Karla was very friendly and an excellent guide. Great storysteller. However, our visit to Trogir was very short and we were left only one hour of free time, which was not enough to have some food and stroll around.

Fair and informative tour with guides. - Lots of info about Diocletian's palace and Croatian history in general, maybe a bit too much info with a lot of detail. Hectic when the round in Split was over, and we almost had to run to catch transport on to Trogir. Fair trip north to Trogir with a tour around the old town with a skilled guide who was good at English and had a lot of knowledge about Trogir.
