Highlights
  • Dariya Daulat Palace - Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace - We arrive at the historic town of Sri Rangapatnam, which served as the capital of Tipu Sultan, the Tiger of Mysore, in the 18th century. We will explore his life, from the day he fought and killed a tiger with a dagger, to his courageous battles with the British, his administrative and economic reforms, and his pioneering use of rockets in warfare. He is recognized as a pioneer in using rockets for warfare, a technology the British later adapted during World War I.

We visit Dariya Daulat Bagh, Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace. Built in Indo-Sarcenic style, it features several magnificent murals depicting Tipu’s wars with the British. The most notable exhibit is the famous painting “Storming of Srirangapatna” by Sir Robert Ker Porter, which illustrates the final fall of Srirangapatna on May 4, 1799, when the British defeated Tipu’s forces.

  • Captain Bailey’s Dungeon - Colonel Bailey Dungeon is the infamous dungeon where Tipu imprisoned several British officers during the war. Stories about this notorious place will be shared during the tour!

  • Mysuru Palace - We visit the grand Mysore Palace and spend a couple of hours exploring this marvel built in Indo-Saracenic style, blending Hindu, Muslim, Rajput, and Gothic architectural styles. The Palace is a three-storied stone structure with marble domes and a 145 ft five-storied tower. The guided tour will take you through the Public Hall, Private Hall, Dolls Pavilion, and the Royal Wedding Hall.

  • M D TOUSEEF VEGETABLES - Next on our tour of Mysore, we visit Devraja Market, the charming old bazaar of Mysore. It’s a sensory delight filled with flowers, vegetables, fruits, jaggery, onions, potatoes, puffed rice, and coconuts!

  • St. Philomena’s Church - We visit St. Philomena’s Church. Built in 1840, it was initially called St. Joseph Chavez before being renamed. Originally a small church, it took its current form in 1933 during the reign of Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV. In 1843, Mysore King Mummadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar built the church to serve the European residents of Mysore. Today, it is the second-largest church in Asia.

  • Mysore Sand Sculpture Museum - We visit India’s first sand sculpture museum. Conceived and built by Gowri, a leading sand sculptor, the museum took 4 months and 115 loads of construction sand to build. There are 16 themes with 150 sculptures on display.

Fuss-free and enjoyable day trip from Bangalore - Booked this Mysore tour and my guide Vignesh and driver Manjunath were amazing. We covered all the key sights in Mysore, and Vignesh brought us to try South Indian traditional thali for lunch which was really delicious! I highly recommend this day trip if you are in Bangalore, especially if you're into history and culture! If you've got additional things you wanna see or try, you can let your guide know and they'll add it into the itinerary.

Would definitely recommend, beautiful, intriguing and well managed - This tour was a really excellent choice to go on. Having the full day trip was loads of fun and meant we got to explore a wide variety of interesting and beautiful locations across Mysore. Vignesh was an exceptional guide and accommodated a number of requests and hopes we had skilfully and quickly. Despite being new to India, we felt safe and guided from the first moment.

Magnificent Mysore - The Mysore palaces and related stops are amazing to see, and it is fascinating to learn the history of the royal family, which still lives in the palace today. The lunch with Andhra cuisine is a delicious and unique experience. Note that the drive from Bengaluru is about 3 hours but the car was very nice/comfortable and the driver provides some of the guided tour (different specialists meet you at the palaces to conduct the tours there). The driver/guide Mohan took me to see the Mysore market, a bustling place which is an experience in itself, and I found some nice small gifts to take home from there. A couple of suggestions - no shoes allowed in the palace, so wear socks if you don't like to walk around barefoot. If you plan to tip guides note that there will be different individuals who take you through the summer palace and the Mysore palace. The driver gets you to the locations and also acts as a guide in particular spots (such as the Mysore market). Initially I was hesitant to make the trip because of the long drive from Bengaluru, but after seeing the places on the tour I was glad that I booked it.

Fantastic trip to Mysuru - Mohan was an excellent driver. He picked me up on time, pointed out things of more on the drive to Mysuru, and I felt safe the whole time. Shiva was an attentive tour guide who knew all the bet spots for pictures. He shared so much knowledge about Mysuru and its history, enabled me to try Mysore Pak, was so friendly and ensured I was safe the whole time (super important as a solo traveller!).
