Great tour - What a great tour with Kate as our tour guide. Her knowledge regarding the back history of the city and the city building was a huge part of our experience there and at the Vasa.

Local guides offer the ideal way to see Stockholm. - There are a number of tour companies. We booked with Tours by Locals (Anna), who was amazing. Even in the winter, the ferry rides to the various islands were awesome. We visited a number of museums, and stopped for Fika, a Swedish tradition.
I do not recommend the hop on/hop off tourist bus system. Sounds good, but construction of levees make it difficult to find the stops, and there are no enclosures for bad/cold weather.

Day layover - All of them.
Kate an Mark are awesome! They kept us entertained after a red eye flight. Saw a lot of Stockholm during our daytime layover.

Herman was very good. The... - Herman was very good. The Vasa museum was outstanding. However there was last minute notice that the tour could not start at 12:30 which had been requested and approved weeks ago. Also there were 2 hours of walking that was not indicated in the tour description.

Not Worth It - This was a 4 hour trip not 4-5 hours. The guide and the driver were very friendly. Took us to some nice panoramic views. However, the tour did not match the description on Trip Advisor site. I expected to go inside Royal Palace, City Hall, and Skanken Museum. We only went by the Palace and City Hall. Didn't go to Skanken Museum at all. They did take us to the Vasa Museum but we had to buy our own entry tickets. Also, we had to buy tickets for a boat. According to Trip Advisor website, all entry fees were to be included in the total.
Bottomline, its not worth the money.
