Great for all ages! - I visited with my grandson age seven. We found the experience informative and fun. Our guide and the school teachers gave great insight into the life and times of Shakespeare. All team members were really engaging. My grandson enjoyed the activity sheet that is provided. Once again this combined knowledge with fun. The search for the mini Shakespeares was a paritcular favourite. This is a great place to visit for all ages!

Fantastic experience and very educational - Wow, that was fun! It's much more interesting here than Shakespeare's birthplace, especially because the rooms are still used as a school! The staff, some of whom take on roles (e.g. Shakespeare's teacher Master Jenkins) are fantastic and you really learn a lot (e.g. that six classes were taught at the same time and were seated on benches sorted by age). There are also recently uncovered Christian wall carvings on the ground floor! You should definitely go!!

An informative and enjoyable tour - We toured the old guildhall and the schoolroom where Shakespeare was taught. The guides were excellent and told us about the history of the guildhall and school. In the schoolroom a teacher in authentic costume explained about education in the late 1500's and we had a chance to try writing with a quill pen. It was very well organised and very enjoyable. Strongly recommended

A must for Shakespeare fans, history buffs and inquisitive families! - Fantastic! Having visited other historical Shakespeare sites, we almost didn't go to the Guildhall and Schoolroom as we running out of time - but we're very glad we did. Its a fascinating building with superb staff who are very knowledgeable. We loved the history and hidden painting - whilst our daughter adored the classroom and writing with a quill. Highly recommended.

My favorite Shakespeare stop in Stratford - My only regret was that I didn’t leave more time to see this one. It takes 45 minutes MINIMUM. They gave a short presentation on the building and what it was used for, in the first part. Next they showed a 5 minute movie to give a better idea of the history. We then were led to the chapel in the hall, where they proudly displayed the restoration of a 600+ year old wall painting. The art is not super clear, but the story and effort are very cool. Upstairs they had a bit more fun, with a presentation by “Shakespeare’s teacher” about a typical school day. That was very entertaining and informative, lasting about 15-20 minutes. Then there was one slightly more modern classroom (Georgian era), with several hands on activities, including some costumes to try on, jigsaw puzzles, and desks with quill pens to practice with. After, you are encouraged to go back and read more of the signage and explore the rooms we saw, but I was already running late. I would have loved 30 min more to really take in everything. Maybe an hour if I had kids with me wanting to touch and try everything they are allowed. Good choice for families AND history nerds.

Good tour - For a small venue the tour was very good and informative. We enjoyed it but felt a little rushed out of the school room after we got to use a quill

A unique and ancient building - The young lady who guided us was welcoming and very good at her job, giving us the background about the Guildhall, the Chapel and later, the schoolroom on the first floor. Before moving on to the next area we had a little time to look more closely around each room. A "schoolmaster" on the upper floor entertained us well. It was a great experience to be able to explore this ancient building, especially to experience being in the schoolroom where a yound Shakespeare would have learnt howbto read and write.

Just ok - Historic place, but not really a whole lot going on. Yes, it’s still a functioning school so that kind of limits it somewhat, but there’s still room for a few more exhibits or information or something. The “lesson” was good, but that’s about all there is to the place, other than saying you saw a place where Shakespeare went to school.
