It's really worth the ticket - Given that I find no other reason to visit Olden, the hike is really very nice. There are several TO that propose it together with that of Costa (our carrier). They will take you to a station where the path that leads to under the Briksdal Glacier starts. If I were you I would carefully consider the option of taking a troll-car (ticket for about E 20/25) that will take you comfortably to the end of the trail. They are only 2.5 km but with a considerable difference in altitude. Besides, I'm built for comfort. The view, once arrived is really very nice. If you use the troll-car beware that you will pass near a waterfall that will wet you largely so better to have something waterproof on. They also provide a kind of wax to cover from the waist down, but above you are exposed. A nice outing.

Fantastic afternoon, beware of the walk to the glacier - This trip was amazing but beware if you struggle walking you won't make it to the glscier. My mum and I did this as an excursion from a P&O cruise of the Norwegian fjords. My mum is disabled and has a mobility walker and can't walk very well. We knew she wouldn't make it to the glscier but wanted to go on the troll cart. The coach from the ship to the troll carts was stunning. Once we arrived, we were disappointed that there is no small buggy to take disabled passengers to the troll carts. Our coach parked the furthest away which meant my mum had to walk 200m. The ride on the carts was great and we didn't get wet from the waterfall. They provide plastic sheeting to cover your legs. I walked to the glacier, around 1k. The driver kindly took my mum back down the mountain where she had a coffee. You only get 45 minutes to walk to the glacier and back. As part of our booking you get FREE cake, tea or coffee before you board the coach. Make sure you go into the correct room in the cafe as we didn't realise and paid for coffee and cake. I would highly recommend this excursion as the glacier is stunning

Briksdal Glacier - We loved the tour and especially the guide. We had bad weather when we reached the glacier but we were prepared and everything was great. To repeat with this agency. Thank you very much. Although the glacier is retreating, I think there are better ones.

Fjords by sea better than by land - Yes indeed the view is spectacular, we in southern Italy do not have such views, but if you do not take the cars that go up to the top you do not see anything, and the cars have a separate cost beyond the excursion fee, almost 30 euros per person, in Norway all very expensive, and the journey quite adrenaline

Great experience - When reading the description, I thought this was more of a guided tour, but it was really just the bus taking you to the public drop off point and you walking it yourself. That being said the tour company and staff was excellent and the hike itself was excellent and this was still one of our favorite experiences. They did give us a time frame to keep us on schedule which helped us because we had other plans - you could easily spend more than half a day there! If you have your own car and more time, you could just do this on your own. If you’re on a cruise or have other things in your schedule- this is absolutely worth it! Great experience. If you have mobility issues- ask them about reserving in advance a place on the cars that drive up.

Not as advertised - Walk was beautiful but not able to walk on glacier as advertised. Glacier has receded too much. Tour guide, bus and trip was good and informative.

Not worth the hike! - The weather was cold and rainy, nothing to do about that. But the walk was very taxing for our group aged 68-76. After the long hike the glacier was no where near being able to touch or walk on. Would have never booked this if the advertising for it was accurate. Expensive disappointment. The only other stop was by a nearby lake for pictures.

Take the shuttle bus to enjoy the place - It’s better to take the shuttle so you can enjoy the scenery & not to hurry back to the bus. So technically the bus picked us up then dropped us off while the tour guide told us that the hike takes 45 minutes. They did not consider their clients from the cruise are majority senior citizens and retirees. So it took me 1 hr & 15 minutes to hike up then just stayed 10 minutes to enjoy. So in total he gave us 2 hours & 15 minutes to return to the bus. He didnt even hike up with us so just take the shuttle bus for much cheaper price & not stressful to return back to the bus.
