Bali's Best Must-See-Do Tour - After previous tours in Bali, I can confirm the Water Temples and UNESCO Rice Terraces tour of Bali, is an absolute must-do experience. And my family and I were lucky enough to travel with highly experienced and knowledgeable guide Joe, who spoke perfect English (with a cool Brit accent!), and who managed to trike a perfect balance between informative commentary and light hearted chat, that made our travel time filled with laughs and good times. On top of that, his driving was impeccable. After being collected from our villa in Seminyak we happily left the city travelling North into the mountains and into the cool air that flows over the lake at the Ulun Danu Temple. Here we found peace and happiness and less stress away from the larger crowds. Following our visit we travelled through delightful mountain villages on route to the must-see rice terraces of Jatiluwih. This UNESCO world heritage site delivered pinch yourself once-in-a-lifetime experiences and emotions. Sheer beauty, scale and admiration was felt and understood. To walk through the rice terraces, hear the trickle of the irrigation and to understand the care and detail of its creation was a sight to behold. My son adored feeding grass to the calm cows in the small sheds along the way, later we climbed back up the hill to enjoy a truly worthy lunch buffet, of fresh salad, nasi goreng, local red rice, curried tofu, chicken satay, spicy noodles and rich, flavoursome eggplant slow cooked in warming spices and not-too-hot chill. This is the kind of buffet that leaves you feeling refreshed and alive, with its cleanliness of palate and authentic local flavours. After lunch we made the slow meandering drive off mountain and through lower-land villages, sharing the road with families going about their day, we saw small family temples, children, dogs and chickens along the roadside, and continued to drive over and past beautiful river gorges, micro rice terraces and vegetable farmland. Later arriving in more built-up city regions before hitting the coastline at Tanah Lot Temple. This was to be our final stop, where Joe helped us snap the best pictures including 'catching the sun' with our hands, and how to make slow exposure ocean photos with our iPhones. Later we watched the deep orange sunset over the Indian Ocean before a twilight drive back to our villa. I felt so grateful of Joe's kind and warm service. The tour company not only delivered air-conditioned comfort, but what we felt was a new friend for life. We will advise all our friends to book this tour, and return to see our new mate Joe soon! Thanks so much guys, we love you!!
