Taipei City Walking Tour by Metro

Longshan Temple - Old Street Historical Culture Tour Traditional Market, Temple Faith, Traditional Architecture

Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall - The original site of the memorial hall was the Army Headquarters, which was the largest military area in Taipei City at that time. It is said that the gold transported from the mainland was once stored in this place. The blue and white colors used in the memorial hall are the main colors on the national flag. The sky dome on the top of the memorial hall is decorated with 12 rays of light in the blue sky and white sun. The bronze statue faces west to the Presidential Palace and mainland China, all of which have special meanings. With the development of democracy and the opening of the mind, the square in front of the memorial hall has become a meeting place for the democratic movement. On the hour, you can watch the handover of the guards of the three armies on the fourth floor

The Grand Hotel Museum - Century Golden Dragon
Originally, the copper dragon was only set up in front of the Taiwan shrine. When the Yuanshan Hotel was built, the original appearance was specially preserved, and it was perfectly presented in the Golden Dragon Restaurant. During the renovation in 1976, it was plated with 24K gold, especially this one Beaulieu has only three claws, which is different from the traditional Chinese four- or five-clawed dragons.

Plum caisson
There is a caisson in the shape of a plum blossom in the central ceiling of the lobby of the Grand Hotel. Five golden dragons surround a dragon ball in the center of the plum blossom, which means “five blessings come to the door”. It means rising step by step, and “16” accompanied by the big plum blossom “hair”, it means a way to grow. The plum blossom caisson symbolizes the prosperity of dragon and phoenix, which has far-reaching significance.

cornice bucket arch
The cornices and bucket arches on the roof reveal the ancient civilization of China. Above the vertical ridge is a row of squatting beasts, occupying the protruding cornices. The owl tail placed between the main ridge and the vertical ridge is a kind of tile-made animal-shaped decoration; while under the roof, the gorgeous but delicate and powerful bucket arch structure, This is the most amazing hall of Chinese architecture. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors in the lobby The large floor-to-ceiling glass windows at the main entrance of the Grand Hotel are elegant and upright, but if you look closely at the patterns painted on the door, you will find six ancient characters “Long Live the Republic of China” hidden in it, which traces back to the time and space background when the Grand Hotel was rebuilt , we can see the transformation of time and space background, and the designer’s ingenuity in creation.

Shi Gandang
On the large stone stele erected at the entrance of the stone steps in front of the archway, there are four cursive scripts inscribed by Mr. Yu Youren himself, with dragons flying and phoenixes dancing. The entire Yuanshan means holy land, and because of this, Yuanshan has maintained its lofty status of popularity for a hundred years.

Two-Day Tour, Lifetime of Memories - I cannot thank Donna enough for an amazing two-day trip in Taiwan. I would give her 6 stars if I could. I had never been to Taiwan before, and she did a phenomenal job of making sure I saw the big sights while also showing me some hidden local gems. She has some amazing friends that treated me so kindly when I showed up. I loved both the city and the outskirts of Taipei, and she was outstanding at ensuring we efficiently went from place to place, either by taxi, metro, or bus. I also loved that she encouraged me to use my rudimentary Mandarin despite her being fluent in English. After such an amazing tour, I will definitely be back.

2 Days for a Lifetime of Memories - I would give Donna 6 stars if I could. I had never been to Taiwan before, but after such an amazing tour, I will definitely be back. She did a great job mixing in the highlights and big tourist attractions with the hidden local gems that really bring it all together. Her network of friends gave me access to amazing places I never would have seen before. She was even patient with my rudimentary Mandarin, encouraging me to use it more despite her English being perfect. She also did an amazing job arranging all the travel needs efficiently, whether it was the metro, bus, or taxi. I cannot thank Donna enough for an amazing experience in Taiwan and look forward to being back again soon.

Donna, not only a guide but a friend in Taiwan🇹🇼 - Unfortunately I am not able to assign 6 Stars though the experience was absolutely worth it. Donna did the utmost to please all my individual needs. It rather felt like having a close friend around me. It was such a pleasure and honor having her as my tour guide. She had a vast knowledge about the sights, the history and temporary culture in Taiwan and the world in general, humorous , warmhearted and absolutely dedicated with a great mindset. I hope to keep in touch with her. If possible, try to ask for Donna, best experience I ever had❤️🇹🇼

The Best of Taiwan in Two Days - Donna Chen was a totally amazing tour guide for our two days in Taipei! We were so lucky to share her enthusiasm, knowledge, and Country with her. Donna listened to our preferences to modify the tour to our needs - flower market, street foods, etc. We loved taking the Metro to see the temples and monuments of this beautiful city. She even helped us make dinner reservations at Din Tai Fung restaurant. Day 2 we went with a tour bus, while she personally escorted us through the New Taipei City area, to the Geopark, Shifen Old street, with a lantern to light, Shifen Waterfall, and JiuFen Old Street. HIghly recommend this two day tour!!!

An outstanding two-day tour experience - This was a truly excellent two-day tour. On the first day, Vincent was my guide to the city. We used its excellent metro system to visit the Palace Museum where his expertise was particularly valuable, as well as several other wonderful sites. On day two, Donna took over, and we left the city proper by bus to visit beautiful sites northwest of Taipei, including the Yehliu Geopark and the traditional and lovely town of Jiufen. Their English was excellent, and they easily accommodated my limitations (I'm nearly 70). VERY highly recommended!!
