It is renowned for its stunning view of Mount Fuji in the background. The shrine and its iconic pagoda offer a picturesque scene that attracts both locals and tourists, especially during the cherry blossom season and autumn foliage.

The Chureito Pagoda was built in 1963 as a part of the shrine complex and serves as a vantage point to capture the beauty of Mount Fuji. Visitors need to climb a series of 400steps to reach the pagoda, and from its elevated position, they can enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the sacred mountain and the surrounding landscape.

  • Oshino Hakkai - Oshino Hakkai (

) is a touristy set of eight ponds in Oshino, a small village in the Fuji Five Lake region, located between Lake Kawaguchiko and Lake Yamanakako on the site of a former sixth lake that dried out several hundred years ago. The eight ponds are fed by snow melt from the slopes of nearby Mount Fuji that filters down the mountain through porous layers of lava for over 80 years, resulting in very clear spring water that is revered by the locals.

Next to one pond, visitors can drink the cool water straight from the source. The ponds are quite deep and have interesting freshwater plant life and large fish. Although the ponds have been developed into tourist attractions and can become quite crowded with visitors, they have a pleasant atmosphere as long as you do not expect untouched nature

  • Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway - (OPTIONAL)
Mount Fuji panoramic ropewa and Lake Kawaguchiko
Ropeway charges are not included in the package

This cable car brings you up the 220 meters to the observation point and offers fantastic views of the lake as you ascend. Whichever method you choose, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views and the perfect shot of Mount Fuji on a clear day

The Mount Fuji Panoramic Ropeway (

) ascends 400 meters from the eastern shore of Lake Kawaguchiko to an observation deck near the peak of Mount Tenjo. From the observation deck, which sits more than 1000 meters above sea level, there are panoramic views of the lake below and of Mount Fuji.

  • Oishi Park - A great park with an amazing view of Mount Fuji. There are plenty of seasonal flowers but the lavender in mid-June is a crowd favorite and also kind play area
  • Lake Kawaguchiko - Lake Kawaguchiko (

) is the most easily accessible of the Fuji Five Lakes with train and direct bus connections to Tokyo. A hot spring resort town with various tourist attractions and views of Mount Fuji is located around the lake’s eastern end, while the northern and western shores are mostly undeveloped.

The best views of Mount Fuji can be enjoyed from the lake’s northern shores and are particularly breathtaking during the cherry blossom season around mid April and the autumn colors around the first half of November. One of the nicest spots for cherry blossoms is the seaside promenade near the Kawaguchiko Music Forest, while photographers will enjoy the “Momiji Tunnel” for autumn colors, a maple tree covered road section along the lake’s northern shore.

  • Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Jinja Shrine - Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine is a prominent Shinto shrine located in Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. This shrine is known for its historical significance and its association with Mount Fuji, which is considered a sacred mountain in Japanese culture. Many pilgrims and visitors start their journey to climb Mount Fuji from this shrine.

Fantastic private tour to Mt Fuji - We had a fantastic time on this trip. We booked it relatively late, but we accommodated so courteously by Mr Vora. The trip was completely flexible and we could decide to spend a little longer at the sites we were interested in. Well worth the money for a private tour and overall we couldn’t fault it.

Fantastic trip, excellent guide and photographer. Mr. Vohra made our day trip worth it for my parents 50th anniversary. - We enjoyed our trip from beginning to end. Mr. Vohra was very friendly and suggested that we leave at 7:00am or earlier if possible. We did a few stops starting with the beautiful shrine and there was a surprise waterfall as well. We didn’t go to 5th station as we chose not to but we liked to have the flexibility. He knew some excellent places to stop along the way where we got to see Mt. Fuji from different angles. We did not feel rushed anywhere but still ran on time. As we left early, there were not many tourists at any of the sites. Mr. Vohra is a very good guide and a photographer as well. He knew the best spots and angles to take pictures. He speaks a few languages fluently including Japanese, English, Hindi and Gujarati. The car is very comfortable and it’s very good for the price. The trip was much better than we expected. His service was excellent and I would highly recommend him.

Mount Fuji with 12 yo child and 77 yo grandmother - Wonderful experience! Shehzad quickly navigated our group of 5 around the area to get us the best views of Mt. Fuji. We viewed the mountain from different areas…high, low, from a speed boat…all beautiful. We enjoyed a delicious local dish called houtou. Handmade noodle dish in a miso broth with vegetables and your choice of meat. We also visited a water fall only locals know how to access. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who has children and elderly people in your group. Shehzad is very personable, accommodating, and fun.

Strange experience but a success in the end - My family wanted to give this tour fewer stars, but I marked 3 because in the end it worked out. I have to say I’m not sure where the blame lies because there are so many other good reviews on this tour, but I’ll let you judge for yourself. The tour was scheduled to start at 730 am. I got a WhatsApp message the day before from the driver saying he needed to push back until 830-845, since the car company doesn’t open til 8. This seemed odd, but whatever. He showed up around 9 at our hotel. Said something about being given wrong directions or needing to coordinate a different driver, not quite sure. Not a huge deal so far. The driver was nice, but was Chinese and didn’t speak much Japanese at all (I had been practicing). He was very friendly but had a very thick accent so was hard to understand at times. About an hour into the trip to Fujisan he asks us how long we had his car booked for. Um, what? Turns out he didn’t have the itinerary from this trip at all. He thought we were just going to somewhere near Fuji and coming back. Said his tour operator didn’t give him any instructions and this was his first time doing a private tour (he’d done buses before). I had to text him the Viator listing and itinerary. He’s on the phone at this point with someone from the office. He didn’t sound thrilled when I said the itinerary said a full 9 hour day. From the limited bit of the phone conversation we got it sounded like neither party was thrilled about it. To the driver’s credit, he quickly put on a good face and said he’d take us wherever we wanted to go for as long as we wanted, though I still felt some hesitation when I said Fuji 5th step because that was an hour further than he intended to go. The rest of the trip was pretty good. We did not see all the things listed on the Viator itinerary, but that was ok by us as we were all jet-lagged and tired by the afternoon anyway. We saw and enjoyed our top picks. Due to a traffic accident (unrelated to us or the tour) we were delayed another 1-1.5 hours, and didn’t get back to the hotel until around 8pm. So it was a beautiful day and my family got to experience some really cool things for a good price. Great pics and fun. It was an odd mess of tour coordination, and I don’t know if it was the driver, the operator, or if this Viator listing is a front with lots of fake reviews. But we didn’t get abducted and got to tailor our day, so despite the issues I think it was a success.

Disappointing Driver and Experience - We had pretty high hopes for this tour given the reviews, but we were really disappointed with the trip overall. The van showed up 1 hour and 45 min late due to an accident and traffic. We weren’t notified of the delay until 15min before we were supposed to leave. And once the car arrived, we had to spend 15 minutes reinstalling the infant car seat we requested because it wasn’t set up/installed properly. Our driver, Hadi, wasn’t overly friendly or talkative and spent nearly the entire trip talking or texting on his phone to other people (yes, while driving). He wasn’t forthcoming with any information about how long it would take to get anywhere except for the initial 1.75 hour trek. And when he did give us a small bit of information or directions when we got to the stops, we found it uninspiring. Overall, the stops were pretty underwhelming and we felt very rushed the whole time. It seems like we got penalized for the driver showing up late. We kept having to ask how much time it took to get to the different stops and weren’t really given the option of what we wanted to see and when. We only got 45min at 5th station when the itinerary said 2 hours. And I definitely would have prioritized the Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine had I known the driver was saving it for last and we were so rushed for time. Maybe with a different driver it would have been better. But for us, it definitely wasn’t worth the money.
