From the early Heian period to the collapse of the Tokugawa shogunate the samurai and ninja always roamed the streets of Kyoto. Now they are back! The samurai and ninja museum brings back the history and helps you to have a glimpse of these heroes’ glorious lives. What is more, you can have a hands on experience including wearing a samurai armor, doing a shuriken (ninja star) throw and using a ninja blowgun all in one place, all included in the tour.

Become a samurai for an hour 👍🏻 - Our guide was so knowledgeable and we had so much fun learning about the ways of samurais and ninjas. Having a turn throwing the ninja stars was daunting yet fun!

Family friendly fun - Excellent food and fun entertainment. A bit staged, but you will learn about sumo wrestling and may get to try yourself. Very interactive.

Great filler! - Wow!!! I thought I’d give this museum a try as a filler in our day in Tokyo… it was such a surprise for the museum was interactive and the kids enjoyed learning about ninjas and samurais… wish the museum was bigger and spent more time!

A lot in a little package - 100% recommend. Very fun, laidback, guided tour. Taught us how to throw stars, differences between ninjas and Samurai. Difference between shogun and emperor, the different multifunctional weaponry and a lot of really cool facts. Small corner museum, but opens up into a 5 story, well organized tour and layout. Plenty of seating and elevator. Dressed up. Took pictures. A lot of bang for the buck (great value).

Fun! - Great fun! You can buy swords and ninja shurikens there too! Learnt a lot about ninjas and samurai. Loved the shuriken throwing

Not a museum really - Not as much displayed history as I expected. Not worth the experience versus a true museum. Expected more than 30 minutes and then a plastic throwing star competition.
