A great trip by NEOmad - I highly recommend this trip to anyone interested in the traditional Kazakh way of life. The reception in the Hun village was very warm and friendly and we had a great experience of seeing the life that the locals have lived for millennia. We loved tasting the traditional horse milk drink kumis and small pies which were offered at the start of the tour. Also it was a great bonus that we could actually take part of the activities like horseriding and archery. The best part of the tour though was talking to our guide Nursultan, whose knowledge of both past and present life in Kazakhstan is impressive. Most of the things we now know about Kazakh culture we heard from him. His English is perfect and he is very attentive, professional and intelligent - safe to say the best tour guide I have had the opportunity to meet.

Horse Milk - We visited Huns ethnic village or Traditional village tour in Talgar, one hour from Almaty. Tour started in opening the gate of the village and throwing candies on their guests, which used to be gold long time ago. Had a short brief about the activities they do in the village, introduced to the way they cook their food and tried a sour horse milk as well as tea. Explanation about how to make their tents in only 2 hours, what dress they wear, how to care for newborns etc. Traditional lunch followed by the main horse show, it takes about 40 minutes, stand and sleep on the horse, compete with each other, try to catch a lady so as to be future wife and many others. Had a chance to try arrow archery. A must visit while visiting Almaty.

Great experience! A must see if you are visiting Almaty. - Our guide Nursultan was phenomenal - very friendly, knowledgeable. Our group was a mix of Russian and English speakers, and Nursultan took great care to make sure everyone could hear/understand what is being said, switching from English to Russian The setting was beautiful, surrounded by magnificent mountains. The show at the Huns village itself was great- not too long not too short. Very interesting information was shared about Kazakh traditions. The staff were really friendly, interacted with the audience, happy to answer any questions. Horse riding was offered to anyone who wanted it before lunch. Lunch was a delicious sampling of local foods, soup, salads, breads. After lunch we got lessons in archery - it was fun. I highly recommend this experience and Nursultan as a guide to anyone visiting Kazakhstan!

Amazing experience, worth the visit! - Buckle up and get ready for a memorable show! It was like transporting back to the old times in a time machine. The costumes, the hospitality and graciousness of the employees, the welcome 'baursak' donuts and tea/ fermented milk , the horses, the archery, local music and dance, traditional yurt experience,- all contributed to a memorable experience. The equestrian show is out of this world , the handsome men and pretty girls did an awesome job on the gorgeous horses displaying magnificent skills, so all in all it was an event full of beauty. Fortunately for us it was a bright sunny morning with a majestic backdrop of snow capped mountains. This is not to be missed- really one of its kind!

Interesting and informative but a bit lame. - The visit was interesting and informative but a bit lame, sorry. We did the excursion to ensure we saw more of Kazakhstan than just the 2 main cities but I think a nature hike may have been more scenic. It included lunch but if you are one of the last in line, some things run out.
