Highlights
  • Talkeetna - You will be picked up in downtown Talkeetna by our shuttle, and driven out to the kennel by a knowledgeable guide.

After arriving at the kennel, watch as your team of dogs are hooked up to one of our dryland mushing rigs or the 6 seat ATV preferred training method for long distance races.

You will then take off, following or riding with one of our experienced mushing guides, on a 45-minute mush through our beautiful, private, heavily-forested racing trails.

Halfway through the mush, your group will arrive at a checkpoint and give the canines a short water break. This a great time to snap some photos with your dog team.

After your team has cooled off, we will prepare for the 20 minute mush back to the kennel.

Back in the kennel, get a picture with your team and give them a final pat before walking through the kennel and learning all about how these world-class athletes live, play, and train, from puppy to retiree.

Walk with the dogs, or just have a seat and snuggle a puppy in our giant run pen.

You can visit the gift shop and check out Dallas Seavey’s Iditarod trophy display before heading back to Talkeetna.

This is the only place in Alaska where you can mush your own team of dogs in the summer!

This is not a just a tour kennel; it is the training grounds and homestead of 4-time Iditarod champion, Dallas Seavey. All the dogs are either retired racing dogs (many have won the Iditarod), are currently on the race team, or are the next generation in training to become the next great champions! Our dogs are active and training year-round. As a guest musher here, you become part of Dallas Seavey Racing’s year-round training program.

The group size for this experience is usually 6 or less people, with a guide assigned to each group, creating a very personal experience.

All of our dogs are extremely friendly, and love attention. Cuddle puppies, romp with young dogs, or walk with champions.

Loved this experience!!! - We loved this experience!! The team that manages the dogs are all amazing. The dogs are well cared for, and they all get so excited to go out with the sleds. The trip was not short at all, it was a good distance to drive the sled team. We got to meet Iditarod Multi Champions, Titon and Gamble. And Titon was even lead on my sled team. Don’t miss this opportunity to be up close and personal with these amazing dogs and trainers.

Fantastic start to a great day in Talkeetna - Our party of 7 had an extraordinary time. Even my 81 year old mother went mushing and enjoyed the activity. The dogs are so friendly and love to be around people but they also love to run and they took us on a great adventure through the woods. I cannot say enough positive things about the people we encountered. The folks driving the bus to and from town were friendly and loved to talk about the area and the dogs. Our tour guide, Sam, was amazing. Not only did she take care of us on our ride but she gave us such a great tour of the kennel and introduced us to so many fantastic dogs and their respective stories. You can tell she truly loves the dogs. Good luck to Sam in next year's Iditarod race. I highly recommend this tour if you find yourself in Talkeetna. Getting to experience this adventure with my wife and our children was amazing and so much fun.

Behind the scenes of an Iditarod championship kennel - It was an amazing time, got to meet the dogs in Iditarod Champion Dallas Seavey's kennel. We met several of the dogs that were on the current 2024 Championship team and others from past championship races. We also got to meet newborn puppies who could grow up to become future champions! Sam, our guide, was really knowledgable and experienced in raising race dogs and also running races herself. She gave us great insight into the sport. The dogs were really approachable and loved all the pets and belly rubs we could give.

Mush! - What a fun day mushing! From the pick up in town, just steps from the hotel, to doggie kisses from championship Iditarod sled dogs, this day was great! Our guide, Sam, was so knowledgeable. We highly recommend this company for your mushing adventure!

My wife’s favorite part of our entire two weeks in Alaska! - This was the highlight of our Alaskan visit. We traveled with princess crosstours and only had two days in town. We called them in the morning, after seeing their sign on Main Street in Talkeetna. They were able to fit us in at 1:30. They picked us up in town. The driver Winter, was both prompt and very nice. She carefully drove us to their large kennel and private trails. We were safety briefed on driving the wheeled aluminum sled, that is used for summer. We were able to follow a pace setter that keeps the pace at 9 mph, which is the speed that they race their iditerod at. We had only four dogs hitched to our cart and they were extremely strong and you have to ride the brakes to keep them from sprinting and overheating or hurting theirselves. Every mile or two we stopped and watered and petted the dogs. They handle their dogs from birth and it shows. When you walk by the dogs they want to be petted and lick you. They let us have as much time with the animals as we wanted. Including pictures all around. They had a week old litter of oups and we were able to see and pet the m and the momma. Ut they were too young to pick up. Little squirmming balls of fur. The man who runs this operation is an incredible contender. Having won it six times. We were provided with the history of the dogs and him. We petted dogs that had won the race three times. They must be priceless. It was an honor to be allowed inside such an impressive undertaking, and operation.

Fantastic experience with a real champion musher! - Dallas Seavey's kennel is full of championship dogs that LOVE their lives as sled dogs. They are treated as the world class athletes that they are. The staff was all very knowledgeable, passionate and answered all of our questions. Special shout-out to Mark and Sam who are Iditerod-bound. We loved riding the sled with the "Miami Heat" team - four females that lived to run.

We learned so much and want to learn more! - We learned about a sport that was alien to us and about skills and a culture that are fascinating. We would love to learn more about the Indigenous history of dog sledding as both sport and part of a subsistence culture/life.
