Highlights
- Pico Bistro Tamarindo - - You will learn safety, the basics of surfing, how to stand up and catch your first wave.
- If you are intermediate, learn tips and improve your skills with a local professional surfer.
- The lesson is 1.5-2h long, depending on how many people we send per instructor.
- The lesson includes the surf board + rash guard.
Tamarindo is one of the best surf spots when it comes to learning how to surf. With clean, gentle waves you’re gonna have a blast while also feeling safe. Only thing you need to bring is your swimsuit, sun screen and a positive attitude! Let’s catch some good waves together.

Pico Bistro Tamarindo
We meet at the back of the cafe Pico Bistro in Tamarindo, next to the lifeguard tower. If you for whatever reason have trouble finding us, you can ask for La Muda Surf, Carlos Brown, Isabella Carrera and Jeison Brown.

Great first lesson - We had a great time for our first surf lesson. We signed up for a group lesson and it ended up being just us two. They also reached out to us beforehand and gave us recommendations for the Tamarindo area. Shoutout to our instructor Brian who was super friendly and attentive!

Amazing experience - Instructors were patient, knowledgeable, and kind. Everybody in our group got up and had a blast! Would highly recommend to anybody learning to surf.

Great surf lessons - Such a fun activity to do in Tamarindo! They are serious when they say everyone is able to stand up by the end of the lesson. The instructors are patient, encouraging, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable about Costa Rica and Surfing. I would recommend this excursion.
Only negative is the sun in Tamarindo is HOT even when it is cloudy and overcast. I got the worst sunburn of my life not reapplying sunscreen after laying on my board for two hours. I fried, don’t be fooled, wear sunscreen even when cloudy.

Best surfing lesson ever! - Ricardo is a legend! We had so much fun and my wife and I both were able to stand a few times thanks to a great lesson with our instructor! Highly recommend! Pura vida!

Sunny & Blissful Surfing - We had an excellent time with this crew and just loved the surfing 🌊 They took great care of us and we all stood up before the day was done! I really appreciated how they watched the waves for us and kept us safe on the water while also matching each of our skill sets with the right waves. Highly recommend ✨

Best Surf Lessons Tamarindo - The staff was amazing in helping beginners and letting you advance as you feel comfortable. Great memorable experience. You won't regret the experience with La Munda Surf. I ran across La Munda after doing a lot of research for our trip as they are not on Google or many other websites.

first time - It was an amazing experience, I felt so free surfing. They taught us step by step on how to get in the board and to really use your body to be able to balance yourself in the water I would def recommend!

Surf lessons for beginner couple - Went on our honeymoon and it was great - would highly recommend to beginners!
Carlos and Brian were incredible. They were nice, friendly, effective and quick teachers not wasting any time but also being very patient. They were great to be out on the water with and even took pictures. It was a great time and would definitely go with them. If you are interested in surf lessons and have no experience, we highly recommend La Muda.
