  • Caves of Hercules - Fans of Greek mythology might recall the 12 Labors of Hercules. Lixus, near Larache south of Tangier, is believed to be the site of Hercules’ Eleventh Labor, the apples of Hesperides. • Place du Grand 9 Avril 1947 - During your Medina tour, you’ll stop at this historic square, known as Grand Socco, which separates the Medina from Tangier’s Ville Nouvelle. It hosted Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany on March 3, 1905, a visit that heightened tensions between Germany and France, contributing to the events leading to World War I. It is also where King Mohamed V delivered a significant speech on April 9, 1947, during Tangier’s international administration. Must-do in Tangier: Visit Grand Socco.
  • Gran Mezquita de Tanger - The Great Mosque of Tangier, built in the nineteenth century, stands on a site that has housed significant religious buildings from various civilizations since the fifth century. After the Muslim conquest in the eighth century, the site was converted to a mosque, then a church during Portuguese and English rule, and back to a mosque after Moulay Ismail recaptured Tangier in 1684. Sultan Sulayman rebuilt the mosque in 1815, creating the structure seen today. Must-see in Tangier: The Great Mosque of Tangier.
