Situated 125 km to the west of Arusha town, adjacent to the cliffs of the Great Rift Valley, Lake Manyara National Park is among the most ancient and celebrated wildlife reserves in Eastern Africa. The park’s primary ecosystems encompass a shallow soda lake that accounts for 77% of the park’s total size of 330 square kilometers, a ground water forest, open grassland, acacia woodland, and the rift wall.

The park’s most remarkable spectacle is the tree-climbing lions, which are occasionally sighted climbing acacia trees. Other wildlife inhabiting the park includes buffalo, elephants, leopards, baboons, impala, giraffes, zebra, wildebeest, ostrich, and hippos.
