Embark on a half-day tour of Salalah, Dhofar’s largest city also known as the “fragrance heart of Arabia.” The expedition begins with a visit to the Sultan Qaboos Mosque (Open Sat - Thu 8:30 – 11:00, Closed on Fri) (please follow the dress code) and then proceeds to the Frankincense Land Museum at Al Baleed, a UNESCO world heritage location. En route to the Haffa souq (frankincense market), you will pass Sultan Qaboos Palace, Sultan Qaboos’s birthplace in 1940. Afterward, we proceed to the golden souk and silver arts and crafts. Our next stop is the Camel market, where you can see camels in the pickup trucks and baby camels.
The tour concludes with a drive through the lush fruit plantations. We pause at a fruit stand for some revitalizing coconut milk or a taste of sweet local bananas and papaya.
