  • Monument of Courage Earthquake Memorial - This memorial is dedicated to the devastating earthquake that struck Tashkent on April 26, 1966, and is located near the earthquake’s epicenter.
  • Ensemble Hazrati Imam - The Khazrati Imom Complex (16th-20th centuries) is the historical and spiritual center of the city. It includes the functioning Friday mosque “Khazrati Imom Mosque” (established in 2007), the Barak-Khan Madrassa (16th-18th centuries, now a shopping area), the Tellya Sheikh Mosque (19th century), the Muyi Moborak Library (which houses a collection of rare Oriental manuscripts, including the world-famous 7th-century Caliph Osman-Koran), and the mausoleum of Abu Bakr Mohammed Kaffal Shashi, one of the first Koran preachers in Central Asia and a renowned scientist.
  • Chorsu Bazaar - Chorsu Bazaar, meaning “four roads” in Uzbek, has been the commercial heart of the city for centuries.
  • Uzbekistan State Museum of Applied Art - Founded in 1997, this museum holds over 7,000 rare works of applied art created by master artisans from the first half of the 19th century to the present.
  • Metro Taschkent - The Tashkent Metro, built in 1977, is the only underground metro system in Central Asia.
  • Amir Temur Square - The center of modern Tashkent, this green space is filled with flowers and fountains and is surrounded by significant political and cultural buildings. At its center stands a statue of Amir Timur (known in Europe as Tamerlane) on horseback. Notable buildings around the square include the Hotel Uzbekistan (built in 1974), the University of Law (formerly the Women’s Gymnasium), the Museum of Amir Timur, the famous Tashkent Clock Towers (the first of which was constructed in 1947 to house a clock mechanism from Eastern Prussia, a war trophy brought back by watchmaker Ayzenshteyn), and the Uzbekistan Forums Palace.

During this day trip, see Tashkent’s top attractions. Once guests are picked up from the hotel by the driver and guide, the adventure begins. Since 1966 is closely associated with Tashkent’s history, visitors begin the tour at the Earthquake Memorial. After exploring the market and old town, they have a lunch break and continue touring the city with their guide. A guide is a must when visiting Tashkent - The guide I had was really informative and friendly. I would definitely recommend him as he brought Tashkent alive for me. It was good that we skipped queues for entering the various sights.
