Highlights
  • Jinvali Water Reservoir - Jinvali Water Reservoir, also known as a lake, is located on the Georgian Military Highway. Soviets constructed the dam in the 1980s—a wonderful place to take amazing pictures.

  • Ananuri Fortified Castle Ensemble - Ananuri fortress dates to XVI-XVIII centuries and it is situated on the foreland by the river Aragvi. Ananuri was a castle and seat of the Eristavis (Dukes) of Aragvi, a feudal dynasty which ruled the area from the 13th century. The castle was the scene of numerous battles. This is a perfect place for landscape photography, there are amazingly beautiful views of the fortress and Jinvali reservoir together. The fortress remained in use until the beginning of the 19th century. In 2007, the complex has been on the tentative list for inclusion into the UNESCO World Heritage Site program.

  • Black and white aragvi - Both White Aragvi, Black Aragvi have their own color, they do not mix together. There is an incredible place that attracts many tourists in the east of Georgia, the white Aragvi and the black Aragvi have their own color, the rivers do not mix up and look like a black-white stream.

  • Kvemo Mleta - restaurant mleta

  • Gudauri - Free tasting Georgian honey and alcohol (chacha)

  • Mineral Springs - Jvari Pass Travertine Natural Monument is calcareous sinter or tufa in Baidara River valley (2197 m). It was formed when carbonate minerals precipitate out of ambient temperature water. Travertine in some places is covered with a thin layer of transparent water on the white surface of the slopes where intensive development process is still ongoing.

  • Stepantsminda - Stepantsminda stands out on the map of Georgia, not just for being just eleven kilometres from the northern border of the country, but also due to the fact that one of the oldest crossroads between Europe and Asia passes through the town. It is not known when Stepantsminda was founded, but a treasure hoard from the 6th-5th centuries BCE was discovered here.

  • Gergeti Trinity Church - Gergeti Trinity Church is a popular name for Holy Trinity Church near Gergeti village. The church’s location is the right bank of the Chkheri river under Kazbegi Mountain, 2170 meters above sea level. Gergeti Trinity Church was built in the 14th century, and this is the only cross-cupola church in Khevi province. In times of danger, precious relics from Mtskheta, including Saint Nino’s Cross, were brought here for safekeeping. During the Soviet Era, soviets prohibited religious services, but the church remained a popular tourist destination. The church is an active establishment of the Georgian Orthodox and Apostolic Church. You will get an epic panoramic view of the whole valley from the church. Due to the church’s isolation in the steep mountainous area full of nature remains Georgia’s most iconic tourist attraction. You will be impressed with the view of Mount Kazbegi, which is 5047 meters above sea level.

Additional Information

On the way to Kazbegi, we stop at the picturesque Zhinvali Water Reservoir, and then visit the Ananuri Castle on the Aragvi River. The castle was the scene of numerous battles and served as a shelter for the local population during the wars. Ananuri is considered one of the most beautiful historical monuments of Georgia.

At an altitude of 2200 meters above the sea level, on the southern side of the plateau of the Greater Caucasus Range, and near the Cross Pass, there is the Gudauri Ski resort.

The Panorama Gudauri is a monument to celebrate the friendship between Georgia and Russia.

Stepantsminda is a small town. The main attraction here is the Church of the Holy Trinity – the Gergeti Monastery that is located at an altitude of 2170 meters under the mountain pick of Kazbegi. Due to its location on the top of a steep mountain, surrounded by very harsh nature, the church became the symbol of preservation of the Georgian relics.

Thumbs up! - Very nice trip. Nicely arranged and very impressive. Georgi our guide was great! Knowledgeable, genuine, kind, polite and very attentive. He loves his country and conveys his love during the tour very well. I was impressed by his ability to do the tour in two languages (he worked really hard). Appreciate it a lot. I can definitely recommend the tour with this company and if you get Georgi as your guide you will be blessed!

King George the 13th rules! - A wonderful tour to enjoy the scenic beauty of Georgia. I’m writing this review specially for our guide, King George the 13th, whose energy & sense of humour kept us entertained throughout the day. The chacha & wine added to the fun.

Great adventure in the mountains of beautiful Georgia - We had a special time on this tour and really want to say a big thank you to Lisa who managed to provide us a lovely day out in challenging circumstances. There were a few irritating tourists in our group and Lisa was able to rise above them. Very impressive to be able to keep cool at such a young age, and to speak so many languages! We drove up mountains; visited churches, monasteries, unique art installations; tasted delicious local honey and drank chacha, went to eat Georgian cuisine in a village restaurant. For me this is amazing and people on the trip should enjoy the special surroundings and stop whining about every little detail. Thanks again Lisa :))

Interesting taste of Georgian history and culture at a great value - Great value for money for a full day’s programme that takes in three sites plus a couple of tasting opportunities. Our guide, Nino, did a fantastic job of giving an insight into Georgian history and culture in an entertaining way, also taking into account the different backgrounds of each guest. The stops are at sites that reveal different moments from Georgian history and have a visually impressive effect. Wine, chacha, brandy and honey tastings were all generous amounts and there was the possibility to make purchases, but absolutely no pressure on guests to do so. The only downside was that we sadly failed to make it to Kazbegi but due to events outside of the tour’s control (a truck got stuck in a tunnel and blocked traffic for several hours). It’s a long day that packs in a fair amount, but certainly one I’d recommend to anyone visiting Tbilisi and eastern Georgia

Worth it - Wonderful scenery and view points. Full day experience for those who want to see a lot but don’t have too much time. Our guide Rony was very nice and helpful. He had interesting stories to share about Georgian history. Don’t forget to bring cash. Food in the restaurant was quite overpriced but very tasty. To get to the church in Stepansminda, you need to pay extra 20 lari per person because you switch for a 4x4. This caught us by surprise, but the price is still worth for what you see. And the minibus was comfortable.
