Duration: 11 hours
Cancellation: 24 hours
Highlights
 • Georgian Holidays - In the morning, your guide and driver will pick you up from your accommodation in Tbilisi.
 • Ananuri Fortified Castle Ensemble - Begin your journey to the Caucasus Mountains with your first stop at the Ananuri complex, a 16th-17th century fortress and church that once served as the residence of the “Eristavis” (Dukes) of Aragvi. The complex includes fortifications, churches, and other religious and civic buildings. Explore the fortress and enjoy stunning views of the Jinvali reservoir from the complex.
 • Gergeti Trinity Church - Continue driving north via the Jvari (Cross) Pass, which is 2,395 meters above sea level, and arrive at the town of Stepantsminda, the administrative center of the Khevi province. Here, we’ll switch to a local 4x4 vehicle and embark on an off-road drive to the top of Gergeti Mountain, where the solitary Gergeti Holy Trinity Church stands. The church’s facade features well-preserved ancient wall carvings. If the weather is favorable, you will see the peak of Mount Kazbegi, which, at 5,033 meters above sea level, is the third highest peak in Georgia.
 • Gveleti Waterfall - Drive back to Stepantsminda and continue to the Dariali Gorge. Take an easy 20-30 minute hike along the river to the Gveleti waterfalls and enjoy the tranquility of untouched nature.

Drive back to Tbilisi and return to your accommodation in the evening.

Beautiful day in Kazbegi - Shorena and her driver, both very fluent in English, took us on an unforgettable day tour to Kazbegi, Georgia's highest altitude region. We first visited the beautiful old Ananauri Fortress and Church where we witnessed a Georgian wedding ceremony which was very special. Then we took a 4 x4 up to the Gegati Monastery, one of the most picturesque and photogenic in al of Georgia with Mt. Kazbeg in the background. Then we visited a local home for a delicious home-cooked meal and then took the 4x4 again up a steep and rocky road to a gorgeous waterfall trail. What a day! Highly recommended!

I researched several private tours... -
I researched several private tours to Kazbegi from Tbilisi before choosing this one. This tour included everything and more much more than the other Viator tours with the same title. The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable and the driver was too. This is one of the only tours that includes a wonderful lunch and drive up to the church pictured in the main photo the other tours do not include this. Wonderful tour.
