It has served as the principal defensive structure of the southern territories of Georgia since the 9th century. Here, you can explore a museum boasting an array of medieval treasures. We then traverse to Vardzia, a spectacular city-monastery etched into the mountain side. En route to Vardzia, we pause at Khertvisi Fortress for a photo opportunity against the scenic backdrop.
