Highlights
  • Loutra Pozar - The distance is 110km and lasts approximately 1½ hours. One explanation regarding the meaning of the name “Pozar” is “after the charcoal” while another one is “under the fire”, which forms an evidence that in the past the village was located in a different place that was burnt or set on fire and the villagers gave the name “Pozar” to their new village.

We reach the enchanting Pozar hot springs, the spa into nature. The healing water infiltrates the ground and after going quite deep is heated up and goes back to the surface enriched with minerals and trace elements.Admire the beautiful gorge located in the majestic mountain where the river “Toplitsa” (in slavic language is defined as “the hot river”) flows through it forming small cascades and shallow shores. Nowadays is mostly known as the river of Saint Nicolas.

  • Edessa Waterfalls - The name Edessa means “a tower into the water” because of the intense presence of the liquid element in the city since the antiquity. We have free time to admire the impetuous waterfalls and capture the enchanting scenery; where the park of the cascades meets the edge of the rock, also known as the “eyebrow” of the city, is located, according to the famous greek author Menelaos Lountemis, “the step where God steps on to go up the sky”. The water comes from the springs of the mountain Kaimaktsalan (Voras) supplied constantly by the snowmelt of the mountain.

We may follow our trip attendant-archaeologist for a walking tour to the traditional district of Varosi and visit the Water Museum or Sesame Mill of Flavors for an unforgettable experience or enjoy a nice meal in one of the traditional restaurants of the area.

We depart to Thessaloniki at around 15:00p.m and we are back approximately after 1½ hours (16:30pm), making the same stops where we started from.

Excellent experience! - The thermal baths were so warm and relaxing. We went in the second outdoor poor next to the waterfall. We bought some dried fruits and vegetables from the market there. The tour guide Lazarus was so helpful and friendly. The whole day was great value for money. Edessa falls were lovely and we had lunch at the restaurant there.

Well organized trip and professionalism all day long - This was my first tour with Ammon Express. The whole trip was very well organized and the day itself was a delight. Lázaros, our Tour guide, provided us with alot of information, not only about Thessaloniki but about the country and its history. From start to finish i enjoyed his stories and at Pozar itself i was able to relax completely. I would book this trip again with Ammon if i ever go back to Thessaloniki, something i would like in the future.

Spent an hour in the warm pool - I had seen 2 reviews that complained that it was just "lukewarm." So I was worried in spite of most reviews being very positive. Especially when March isn't a hot month. I was pleasently surprised my wife chose the midsized natural pool which i also wanted. I didn't have a thermometer, but the water felt close to body temp and the air bound streams falling into the pool felt even warmer. We were probably in the pool close to an hour. If you go on weekends when there are lots of people you may be limited to 20-30 minutes. Make sure you carefully go down the underwater steps. You may think you've reached the last step, until you after over a meter find one more! In case you wonder "is the stream beside the pool is warm?"; it's not. The guide was good. But if you sit in the back of the minibus it will not be easy to hear. The recommended restaurant at the waterfall was very nice and not high priced. We were very pleased with everything (and the weather was good too)

Amazing !! - It was a wonderful & well planned tour.. The sights were really nice.. The baths were warm, inviting & were located in a picturesque setting.. The Best part about visiting them in this season was that there were neither queues, nor crowds.. Edessa is a small town, & the waterfall, the cave & the balcony behind the falls were amazing.. Our guide & driver were great.. A day well spent..
