- Cattsperr Hole - We will explore through and around Mangrove Keys, Beds of Sea Grasses and Sand Bars. Birds, stingrays, horseshoe crabs, shells, manatees a dolphins are some of the wildlife we may encounter. Capt Yak will immerse you in this vital ecosystem and provide you with information on the abundant wildlife and plant life that you will encounter on this 3 hour tour. Don’t worry about getting tired, your route will be based on the tide and wind to make the paddle as easy and enjoyable as possible. Midway through the tour you will stop at Shell Key and have time for a stroll, take a dip in the warm gulf waters, look for that special shell, have a snack or just relax and take it all in. On the return trip you will continue to be mesmerized with your interactions with your guide. With nearly 30 years experience conducting field research around the world and working in zoos Greg Has acquired a vast amount of knowledge that crosses over to his passion of kayaking Shell Key Preserve for many years.

Embark on a 3-hour guided excursion through the crucial ecosystem known as Shell Key Preserve.
With extensive field research worldwide and nearly three decades of experience in various US Zoos, Capt Yak offers a wealth of knowledge about the flora and fauna you’ll come across.
Glide smoothly on some of the most pleasant, superior paddling Sit-on-top single or tandem kayaks.
Our journey will lead us through mangrove passageways, over seagrass beds, and sandbars as we encounter wildlife. We’ll make an intermission at Shell Key, where you can wander, swim, uncover the perfect shell, or just unwind and absorb the milieu.
On the way back, Capt Yak will continue to impart his expertise, captivating you with his narratives.
We offer multiple daily departures that fluctuate between 9:00am-3:00pm, depending on the tides and weather.

Located 2-1/2 miles on the right once you cross over the Tierra Verde Bridge.
There is no sign and you can park anywhere on the grass lot.
You will see Capt Yak's Wrapped Silver Nissan Titan and Kayak Trailer.

This is something to Yak about! - What a fun way to experience the beautiful nature of Florida! Captain Yak did a great job of guiding us through the mangroves, across the waterways, and onto Shell Key Island. He did a great job educating us on the ecosystem, different birds, fish, and the dolphins we were blessed to see. 10 out of 10… highly recommended! Thanks Greg!

Best Day Ever! - Such a great Kayak tour! Capt Yak is very laid back but knowledgeable in local wildlife and habitat which made the trip very fascinating.I am handicap but able to walk some and paddle alone, he was very patient and helpful. The water was so clear and the kayaks were comfortable as well, if you've ever used cheap kayaks you will appreciate his! Our excursion was to Shell Key, which has a sand bar and tons of shells, lliteral paradise, where we spent free time on the island. Afterwards we headed back across pretty calm waters back into the mangrove tunnels at the perfect time with light cascaded through the branches creating a picturesque environment. Capt Yak's knowledge and years of experience set his trips worlds apart from the rest!

Amazing Rental Experience - We rented the Kayaks with Capt Yak to get to shell beach. Prior to the arrival, his communication was amazing with what to bring and directions to get there. On the day of the rental, the kayaks were out on the water and ready to go. He gave us a map of where to go, what would be easy for my family, locations that would be good to see some animals, fishing and shell hunting.
If we go back, we definitely will be renting again from Capt Tak

Knowledgeable Guide, Great Experience - We had a great experience with Greg on a guided kayak tour of the Shell Key preserve. He brought a wealth of knowledge to the tour and was very personable. We enjoyed mangrove tunnels and bird watching. We liked it so much that we rented kayaks from Greg two days later and had another amazing experience at Shell Key (shelling, fishing). We highly recommend Capt Yak!

Take the tour - Took a kyaking tour to shell perserve. So glad we did the tour. It was a windy day and having a guide know the water made it an easy paddle saw some dolphins, lots for shell, and wildlife. Highly recommend this outfitter!

Great Kayaking Trip! - We paddled with Greg and had the best time!! He didn’t rush us at all and took us through a lot of mangrove tunnels and across the bay. He provided a lot of information on the history of the area and of the wildlife. I would highly recommend Capt Yak’s kayak tours.

A MUST DO ACTIVITY with friends and family - We had a blast. Great fun and a great way to get on the water. A casual nature trip excursion in beautiful surroundings. We enjoyed casually paddling and going through the mangrove tunnels. Enjoyed every
