Highlights
  • House of Soviets - Embark on a day-long adventure with an unpredictable route that blends classic walking tours with excursions for true explorers. No monotonous monument hopping with dull lectures. My philosophy is to reveal the authentic country and hidden treasures that travelers wouldn’t discover on their own. Therefore, many of the places we might visit aren’t listed here to prevent the tourist industry from spoiling them. However, our first stop will definitely be DOM SOVIETOV to greet comrade Lenin, which is a perfect way to start.

  • The Christmas Cathedral - An optional loop through the 100 rouble backside.

  • The Suvorov Monument - The day trip will feature highlights, top attractions, and my favorite hidden gems that I won’t disclose here. But it’s likely these hidden spots will make the journey unique and unforgettable. One of the known attractions will be the Alexander Suvorov monument in the central square.

  • Green Market Center - A surprisingly modern vegetable market. What they call eco products are just regular products in my country.

  • Eternal Flame - Eternal flame and memorial for those who fell in the Great Patriotic War.

  • The Tank Monument - The T-34 is one of the most significant memorials in Transnistria. It’s a real combat tank whose crew was killed in Hungary as Soviet troops were advancing to Berlin.

  • Palacio Presidencial - Palace of Pioneers, Supreme Soviet with comrade Lenin in front.

  • Chitcani Monastery (Noul Neamt) - An optional detour to Kitskany village and Noul Neamt Monastery.

  • Bendery Fortress - Bendery, the second-largest town in this region, has both Soviet and medieval sights. On request, we can visit the old Turkish fortress on the bank of the Dniester River. I loved it when it was abandoned, but now during reconstruction, it has gained some significant perks.

  • Mig-19 Monument - Pridnestrovie is often rumored to be “back to the USSR,” but it’s more complex than that. You need to be in the right place at the right time to get that impression. One of my favorite spots to capture this feeling is the Aviators Memorial in Balka district, commemorating 30 years of victory in the Great Patriotic War.

  • Soviet Canteen - The journey will be multifaceted and contrasting, blending history and contemporary life, picturesque panoramas, and impressive Soviet relics. Our itinerary is flexible, with some planned parts and some optional or spontaneous adventures. Let’s be open to the world and all possible adventures. I will not only be a storyteller but also a guide to the real country and its people.

In the summer, they start selling kvas on the streets, a cool, refreshing drink made of water, bread, yeast, and sugar. You might like it or not, but it’s a chance to try something authentic, with a recipe unchanged since communist times.

My favorite lunch spot is the Soviet canteen - Stolovka USSR. It’s super tasty, atmospheric, and authentic, with a nice interior—perfect for a lunch stop.

  • Kvint - I’ve discovered many intriguing nooks and crannies while doing my drawings. They aren’t listed on TripAdvisor but will make the day unforgettable and the tour unique. We’ll have time to discuss all the peculiarities of life in this unrecognized country. This is my homeland, and I’ve lived in Pridnestrovie since the state’s foundation. It’s completely safe, intriguing, and hospitable. Mount up, comrades! You won’t just be meeting a guide; you’ll be meeting a friend!
  • Tiraspol - One of the lunch options is a reincarnated Soviet canteen. The place is amazing and still vastly underrated. Perhaps it’s better that it hasn’t been discovered and overrun by tourists.
  • Transnistria - Each day is unique. If you decide to entrust your time to me, it won’t be just a tour; it will be an experience. Beyond borders and propaganda. Take off the horse blinders and come see for yourself. Welcome to Pridnestrovie, where we make cognac, not war!

Frankly, I can’t convert my nation into Maldives because it’s simply not Maldives. However, I can orchestrate a memorable exploration through its many contrasts - stunning views, remarkable soviet era ruins, intriguing historical facts, and modern life in this unrecognized country, a mix of classic walking tour with detours for true adventurers.
Our day trip spans between 5-7 hours. It’s not rigidly planned, we are very flexible in choosing places to visit and activities to partake in. The standard path includes must-visit spots from the USSR time period and modern Tiraspol, Bendery and optionally Kitskany, additionally featuring my beloved hidden spots discovered during my drawing sessions. This trip is neither tiring nor monotonous, there will be ample opportunity to discuss about peculiar aspects of Transnistria’s past and present. You wouldn’t be simply meeting a tour guide, but a friend ☭

Great tour to see the country and their people - Anton's tour was great, tailored to what our very small group wanted to do. You see the monuments and take the classical pictures, but you also get the essence of the people living here, that intangible meshwork so difficult to observe, and the consequences of living in an unrecgonised country. I highly recommend Anton as your local guide for Pridnestrovie/Transnitria.

A journey to learn about the Soviet - Our guide Anton was very kind and the best guide. He told us about his life. It was very impressive. The city is the Soviet. I could see that people live peacefully in the difficult geographical environment. I thought about Soviet history and the passport that got you nowhere even if you had it. I want to visit to this country again .

What is a country? - Anton is a fantastic tour guide for Transnistria. He put in great effort to make my visit as comfortable as possible. It was great to get to see this place through the eyes of a true local. Anton highly values telling the truth and that's how he goes about leading his tours. He gives an honest view into little known republic full of friendly people.

Experience “Transnistria” with a True Friend - Anton will tell you this isn’t a tour, because it isn’t like the other tours. What you will experience is being shown around the country by your new friend. You’ll see the highlights of a regular tour, but you will also hear first hand from a born and bred local what life is like, and what it means to live in a country that doesn’t exist. Besides the highlights of an organized tour, you will see hidden gems, talk to people on the street to hear their memories of the good old days and life now. Anton is a family man with a desire to see the world and to share his world with everyone who is interested. Pridnestria (as the locals call it) , or “Transnistria” as we read about it in the West, is NOT like what you read online (the warnings by governments that it’s unsafe). As far as I can tell there’s been no conflict wince the early 90s, and no one has updated their notes. It felt no different than anywhere else in the world. There are people living normal lives, going to work, etc. but it is a unique place with a unique history, a country that “doesn’t exist”, and a must-visit if in the region.

Great day with Anton - I had an amazing day with Anton. Wasn’t sure what to expect at first, being solo, but it was great. Anton is very personable, very passionate about Transnistria, and does his best to show you what he experiences in daily life. It’s not just a historical tour, more of a tour of life in Transnistria from a local point of view. Definitely the kind of experience I was looking for. Would definitely recommend.

Once in a lifetime experience - with an expert host. - I cannot recommend this host enough, a native of the region (many of the other tours are led by guides based in Chișinău which results in a different experience), Anton Dendemarchenko is more than a guide and is more like a friend who is sharing their expertise and insight with you. Anton is attentive to specific interests and knows unique (and sometimes secret) places to go whether you are interested in art, architecture, food, history or the countryside. This is not your standard tour that sees you visiting a checklist of popular sights but is a real experience and exploration of not just the place but also the people - Anton loves getting locals to share their insight and memories of different eras rather than relying on dry lists of facts. As a result you get to see beyond the stereotypes of it being a 'Soviet Zoo' or a political oddity and learn and witness the daily life, beauty and challenges of Pridnestrovia with a funny, knowledgable and kind host (check out his Instagram transnistria_travel for more insight into this) You only get to visit Pridnestrovia for the first time once - if you do it with Anton, I believe it could be the first of many visits, I know it will be for me!

Perfect local guide - You're visiting Transnistria to understand what it's like, so why get a guide from outside? Anton is a local, and passionate about his home country and exactly who you want. (Btw, even if you're someone who doesn't usually have a guide and prefers to be independent, you need one to get anything more than a superficial experience here, so suck up your pride and go for it! It's very simple to get there via public transport and to cross the border on your own, but once you're there you will get a lot more out of it if you have a knowledgeable guide)

Back to the Soviet Union! - An amazing experience with Anton. He took us to know the city from the inside, “returning” to the USSR. He struggled to speak Spanish all the time, as I don’t speak English. Super friendly and fun. I recommend it!!

The Ultimate Soviet Experience! - "Wait in the bread lines no longer, comrades, the "tour" of a lifetime is here! During my time abroad, I have taken tours in many different nations, but nothing has come close to this. It would be truly dishonest to even label it as a "tour," for it is truly an adventure with many sights and experiences to behold of a Glorious Soviet Past. Each step feels like a walk inside a history book. Anton Dendemarchenko does an amazing job at encapsulating the richness in both the historical development and current living situation within Transnistria, as you encounter some of the most famous monuments of a long-gone era, as well as those that are treasured and hidden away! It truly puts you in the shoes of the local proletariat and fills your heart with revolutionary zeal! Anton also did an amazing job of keeping in touch and making sure that everything ran smoothly. Transportation from Kishinev Airport to Tiraspol was included in the package and was provided by Dima, who was very helpful and on time. Dima truly made for a good drive and had a great playlist as well. Even outside the "tour," Anton provided great recommendations and tips on local attractions and ways of getting around town. Truly, if you are seeking the most immersive and authentically tailored experience within the Motherland, look no further than Comrade Anton Dendemarchenko! ☭"

A perfect guided tour - Anton is the guy you want to have with you around Pridnestrovie, he's a local so he knows pretty much everything and beyond about the place, his English speaking abilities are top so you'll have no language barrier at all, also he's funny and his attitude is very good for his work. In our tour he came at my hostel in Chisinau to pick me up with his car and got us to the undiscovered Trasnistria, some hidden spot were shown but i feel like we missed some (in part my fault cause i took too many pictures haha...) he answers all of your questions about transnistria and gives you all the history tips for your history lecture about the connection between ussr and Pridnestrovie, at the end of the tour he gifted me with his little drawings postcards, PMR cards and the most wanted plastic coins they use as money.
