  • Les Deux-Alpes - Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine is believed to have been established around 1,500 years ago, in the second year of Emperor Kinmei’s reign during the Kofun period. Since Kawagoe Castle was constructed by Michizane and Dokan Ota in 1457 during the Muromachi period, it has been highly respected by successive castle lords as the guardian deity of the castle town and the domain. Even after the Edo period, the shrine was maintained and received special arrangements from successive Kawagoe feudal lords. The current main shrine features intricate carvings and is an important cultural property of the prefecture. Additionally, the shrine has been worshiped as a god of matchmaking since ancient times due to the five deities it enshrines.
  • Kawagoe Ichibangai Shopping Street - Situated at the edge of the Musashino Plateau, there was a rice market in the fields to the east, north, and west. It was a crucial location for transporting food such as rice and vegetables by boat using the Shingashigawa River, which encircles the city and extends to Edo, where generations of Fudai feudal lords were stationed. Many of Edo’s festivals and cultural practices have been brought back and preserved to this day.
