This two-day tour takes you to some of the country’s top filming locations. You’ll visit ancient Roman ruins and underground houses, cross a vast salt lake and spend the night in an oasis on the fringes of the Sahara.

Begin your desert adventure at El Jem Colosseum. This ancient Roman stadium used to seat 35,000 spectators, entertained by gladiatorial fights and chariot races. After your cultural fix, head to Matmata, for lunch and a visit to the rock-cut cave homes that starred in the Star Wars films. Finish the day in your very own oasis for an overnight stay in Douz, the ‘Gateway to the Sahara’.

In the morning, you’ll cross Chott el Djerid, a rust-washed salt lake, before hopping into a 4x4 for a ride to Onk Jemal. Here, you’ll explore a film set city built exclusively for Star Wars. We will stop for a Tunisian lunch at Gafsa and in the afternoon, round off the tour with a photo stop at historic Kairouan.

Very nice experience, I recommend. - We took the excursion recommended by Gazi. It was great, we visited a third of Tunisia. A perfect organization, with professionals who manage a lot of tourists but no rush, everything is done carefully.

Extensive tour of Tunisia - My favorite part of the excursion was El Jem Coliseum and Chott El Djerid. The overnight hotel was perfect good in that it had a swimming pool which was great after a warm day in the Sahara.

Great Value Tour! - Great long overnight tour, covering the same sights as the other tours, but at the best price. Unfortunately, it was cold and rainy during our tour, but that was an unexpected change in the forecast. Nevertheless, we had a great time exploring El Jem (our favorite!), the Berber village, and a camel ride on day 1. As others have mentioned, the Star Wars cafe is a sad tourist trap, but the lunch was well portioned and decent. I found all meals during the tour were bland, and I believe they were catering to tourist by using minimal seasoning. For reference, I generally seek well seasoned foods, like Indochinese and Portuguese. Keep in mind, all drinks, including water, are an additional 3-5 TND each meal. We were also very impressed with the hotel we stayed at in Douz, it had a nice palacial feel. Just note there was no WIFI, but the Ooredoo SIM cards we purchased on arrival provided great service everywhere. Also be aware the wake up time is 4:00 AM on the second day! I think it's worth it/necessary considering how much ground the tour covers. Be aware most hours will be spent sitting on the bus between places, but that is the only way to cover all these places. They also make a rest stop between the longer drives. The second day consisted of the 4x4 tour, lunch at nice hotel, and Kairouan. The 4x4 was awesome, but it was a little disappointing that we did not enter the Great Mosque.

Worthy the time and money, highly appreciated. - The tour is beautiful and full of amazing places, includes a large number of sites to visit and is well worth the time and money spent. Efficiently spread over two days that would be difficult to do alone. The guide was detailed and precise in his explanations. Totally unexpected was that we stayed in 4 star hotels, very cool and comfortable. The only negative point is that there are a lot of stops along the way just to make you consume and buy stuff.

Was ok - The trip consists of two days by going to the Coloseum on the first day with a great experience. Unfortunately you only had 25-30min time to see the whole thing. Afterwards it was said that you drive to a fish market although it was only a cafe+gas station and far and wide no fish market could be seen. The ride was taken to the Star Wars filming location/hotel where you can only 20min (!) Had time for food, Wc and photos. Continue to the family who live in the rocks (should) what is pure rip-off, you are allowed in the rooms and can take photos but if you want to leave them you are urged by the “inhabitant” who lives there to give money. In addition, has had time again in about 15-20min. The hotel where you sleep is perfect for one night. Unfortunately no wifi in room and smelly. Camel riding has been super great in the Sahara, a carriage for two people has nevertheless been too expensive. The next day in the morning the highlight was the trip to the Star Wars location by jeep (highly recommended we liked everything!) Lunch (10:30 a.m.) didn’t please anyone, you had some time for that. Small beer 10td! Then take a break at a souvenir-only cafe. Finally, we were promised a shopping center in the Holy City. This turned into a 20min sales presentation of carpets in a one-storey house with a view of the mosque. Those who ride here can prepare for a lot of mass tourism, tourism traps and stress. Unfortunately not recommended by us

The tour company never came to pick me up - The tour company never came to pick me up and did not reply to any messages or phone calls. I was able to contact viator, and they were also unable to contact the tour company. They told me to keep waiting. I waited at the pickup point (a hotel I was not staying at) from 6:30 am to 7:45 am before giving up on my 2-day trip. Viator started the refund process and the tour company (Tunisie Voyages) did respond to them about that later in the day. I got my refund quickly but no explanation or apology from the tour company. (Luckily, I was able to get a similar tour the following day with a different company and the tour was great.)
