Perfect day - Our tour guide Geta picked us up from our hotel in Cluj and we were the only people who booked that day, so it was a private tour! Geta is a superb guide, very knowledgeable, personable and made us feel very welcome and comfortable. She was fully familiar with all the history of Turda Mines and the picturesque Rimatea Village . We finished with a hike in Turda Gorge where Geta hikes regularly, which is very beautiful in Autumn. She also accomodated a couple of special requests, the synagogue in Turda and the Holocaust memorial in Cluj. Highly recommend

Like traveling with a history professor - Joseph was so interesting! Everywhere we went, he had historical tidbits and information - it made for quite a day. It was raining, so we decided not to do the gorge hike; Joseph offered a tour of a local fort in exchange. I'm so glad we did that - we got to see Roman ruins and Hapsburg architecture. I would definitively recommend this if you have a day to devote to the tour.

Excellent Tour! - I did this tour with my friend back in July 2019. It was our first time in Cluj, Romania. The tour was ment to be for 8 or more people, but as my friend and I were the only ones who had booked on this particular day we had a tour with just the two of us and the guide, Joseph. Joseph had great knowledge and went above and beyond to share this with us. He even provided us with rain coats as it started raining on our hike through the gorge. He picked us up from our accommodation and returned us there aswell. Excellent day trip from Cluj and would highly recommend it to anyone who is visiting Romania. An absolutely beautiful country!

Phenomenal Experience - We had an amazing time! Our guide, Geta was knowledgeable and friendly and just generally made this trip completely worth it. She picked us up exactly at 8:30 right outside of our hostel and we were on the road — our first stop was the Turda Salt Mines, which are absolutely spectacular. The history is fascinating and the sheer size and brilliance of the place is awe-inspiring. It looks like something out of a science fiction novel. We had some free time to ride the ferris wheel and look at souvenirs, but unfortunately the row boat area was closed. After the mines we had a lovely lunch at a restaurant nearby where we talked about Romanian/Hungarian history and food and sipped local wine. The next stop was Turda Gorge — there's a zipline option (an extra 50 lei a person) which was quite the thrill — from there we hiked through the gorge and our guide explained the geology and showed us some native plants and then guided us up to a view from a fortified cave. The gorge is spectacularly beautiful but be warned, sensible footwear for a hike is important as the going is quite slippery. Rimatea was the last stop — it's a quiet little village a bit of a ways away from Turda and so picturesque. We heard some more history and had a walk around the town before heading back to Cluj. Without a doubt worth every penny.

The best start to my trip! - I am so glad that I booked into this tour. Joseph was a brilliant guide. He knew everything there was to know about the mines, leaving me with no questions. The village and the ethnographic museum was lovely to see. I really enjoyed every little detail he told. The gorge was an adventure. He showed me all sorts of hidden delights and we even got to one of the caves up along the way. Throught the day we talked and I learned so much from him by doing so. He even gave me recommendations for what else I should do to visit as this is my first trip to Transylvania. Definitely book with this tour. It's well worth the money and you will very much enjoy every last moment.

Excellent tour, superb guide! - The Turda salt mine, gorge and Rimetea village were excellent places to visit, with the gorge and salt mine being particular highlights! But better yet was our tour guide, Joseph. Few people are as well read, pleasant, friendly and knowledgeable as he was, and without a doubt our tour was made from great to superb due to his presence! Worth every penny, and would recommend to anyone with any interest in Romania, history and interesting tidbits in general. 10/10, do try!

A great day with a great guide - If you are looking to do as much as possible during one day and also listen to an excellent guide, this is definitely the tour for you. You get not only history but also a beautiful walk in Turda Gorge. Joseph is a walking encyclopedia and you get a wide background about every place and its history. Salina Turda, Gorge and a beautiful village. I recommend warmly.

A Day Well Spent - Highly recommend this trip. If you get Joseph as your guide you've hit the jackpot. He's a very knowledgeable nice guy. The salt mines are vast and somewhat chilly( bring something warm). Dinner was terrific. The village is historic. The Gorge, well, you have to be fairly sure footed as the path is stoney. A day well spent (from about 8am to 6pm).

Tour of Turda Salt mine,Gorge, Rimetea village - This was one of my most memorable tours of Romania. It was easy to agree the time and pick up point through watsapp because the contact number is provided. Josef, my tour guide, spoke amazing English so it was essy to communicate throughout the tour(I remember him mentioning he speaks 4 other languages too...German, French etc...🤗). I was picked up on time and the car eas extremely comfortable and air conditioned. We stopped at a petrol station for a quick breakfast bite and then headed off to the Turda Salt mine. Remember to keep a jacket as the temperatures are cold inside the mine. The tickets were bought and provided by Josef and I experienced what "infinity" looks like for the first time in the Turda mine. The whole structure is fascinating and definitely worth a visit. Do not forget to hear your voice echo multiple times in the special location. Josef explains every part in such detail right down to the markings on the wall. Feel free to ask him questions because he has the answers. We then drove through to the villages with lovely landscape. If you get a chance, do ask to stop at the energizing sunflower fields on the way. We had romanian lunch at a traditional restsurant ...both the stew and pancake I ordered were delicious. We then drove towards the Trascau castle(not many know about this), parked the car and went trekking to the top for a breathtaking view(please wear comfortable shoes). Josef takes awesome pictures if you request him to. We came across rare butterflies and one even sat on my hand. After the trekking uphill, I was very thirsty and Josef provided me with water bottles throughout the tour. After Trascau, we drove through more beautiful landscape with plums and black currant trees and bushes( I actually picked some off the trees and bushes for tasting). We visited a village which was awarded the "Europa Nostra award in 1999". Look for the thinnest alley and the dragon door knob! Remember you do have an option to go ziplining if you ask Josef. I tried it ofcourse and it was indeed a positive adrenaline rush. ( you need to pay cash in Romanian currency😉 for the zipline). After ziplining, we drove to the Nature reserve and then there is a secret surprise for you...caves, bridges, mountains, gorge, rare species of animals, fresh wind breeze...perfect for trekkers and for rejuvenating the body and mind. This takes around 3 hours if you go till the end!(Ofcourse comfortable shoes and clothing required). Please note there are washrooms before you enter the reserve where you have to pay to enter and you can request Josef when you need to go! I was then comfortably dropped back to my accommodation. Thank you Josef for showing me the real Romania. I will be back for the circuit soon.😁
