Additional Information

Mongolia is often identified with its brisk winters; however, the country offers much more beyond the nippy temperatures, including a range of stunning vistas and unique features. In recent times, Mongolia has become known for hosting a variety of exciting winter events. One such event is the Ice Festival, an annual celebration starting in 2002, taking place each year on the first weekend of March along the western banks of the icy Lake Khuvsgul in northern Mongolia. Furthermore, envisage the enchanting view of the Gobi Desert during winter with its snow-draped plains, peaks, and dunes, which enhance the desert’s allure. The Gobi is not only renowned for its breathtaking landscape, but also for its rich biodiversity, ancient dinosaur remains, local nomadic culture, and camel population. Among the events celebrating this heritage is the celebrated Camel Festival, hosted by local herders since approximately twenty years ago, on the 7th and 8th of March annually, with the goal of conserving the distinctive two-humped Bactrian camels indigenous to Mongolia.
