Excellent, reliable and fun tour guide - Simply put: I had one of the best days in Mongolia with my enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide Zolboo and her equally dedicated driver. A one day tour is nowhere near enough to get to know this vast and fascinating country, still it felt like a great introduction to the Mongolian way of life. Countless stories shared freely between my guide and the driver helped to immerse myself quickly in that wild and foreign culture. As for the program: We visited a huge statue together with the world's largest boot. We saw wandering nomads in some splendid scenery and went horse riding including a few small river crossings after heavy rainfalls the day before. I was treated to an excellent meal in a friendly Ger home. Then we rode on an authentic ox cart with the oxtail whipping in front of our faces for added rural grittiness. To top it off we saw many interesting places in the famous Terelj national park (turtle rock anyone?). Yet the itinerary never felt rushed and I was always allowed the time to get that extra shot, that otherwise is often missed in the big rush of more commercially oriented tourist groups. Finally, instead of driving me back to my hotel, Zolboo suggested to let me off at the Zaisan Memorial, which was another of countless highlights during my 5 day stay in this capital of many contrasts. So, thanks again to the whole team of Khan Travel, I wish you guys much success for your present and future endeavours. At the same time, I warmly recommend their services to all visitors interested in this extraordinary, potentially life changing travel destination.
