Highlights
  • Cotswold Way - Immerse yourself in the history of the Cotswold at one of the many Cotswold museums, great historic houses, or just walk through the streets and down the back lanes within the beautiful Cotswold stone towns and villages.

There is so much history to take in that you’ll be sure to find a historic story that rewards your interests.

‘Cotswold’ is a combination of two very old English words. Everyone’s pretty much agreed that ‘Wolds’ are gentle hills. And most people agree that ‘Cots’ are sheep enclosures. So ‘Cotswold’ probably just means an area of gentle hills with plenty of sheep around.

The Cotswolds hills are criss-crossed with dry stone walls. The picturesque Cotswold landscape is completed with hidden river valleys and distinctive market towns and villages made of the famous Cotswold stone. Many Cotswold villages have enigmatic names such as The Slaughters, Stow-on-the-Wold.

Additional Information

Explore two of the most historical sites in England in a private vehicle. Shakespeare’s Birthplace is a restored 16th-century half-timbered house. Visit Mary Arden’s Farm to discover the childhood home of Shakespeare’s mother. Visit Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, a beautiful 500-year-old cottage. One of the delights of visiting the Cotswolds is exploring the different areas, each with its own identity, yet all with those defining Cotswold features: golden stone and rolling hills. All tours are carried out in executive vehicles. Our definition of a “private tour” means your tour, where all ground services are provided by your very own personal driver, with a private vehicle and chauffeur. This is especially convenient if you are traveling with children or elderly people with mobility challenges. This tour will last a total of 10 hours, with approximately 5 hours allocated for visiting the sites and the rest of the time spent on journeys and lunch.
