Highlights
  • JWPC+Q3P - We seek to show during your tour the activities carried out by the Andean people, especially those of the rural community of Racchi Ayllu, for example, the alpaca cattle and their differences are shown, as well as the guinea pigs and their breeding process.
In addition, it seeks to revalue the ancestral textile legacy through fabrics worked by hand with the fiber of alpaca, sheep and vicuña; taking into account that these products are made by women who live in inequality of opportunities and domestic problems. For this reason, through We want to empower them, that they achieve economic independence, that they live knowing and respecting their rights as women, and above all that they do not forget their ancestral textile legacy, but that it lasts and can be taught to new generations.
During that time, you will be part of the experience of the textile manufacturing process, such as weaving waist bracelets starting with basic designs and different colors; and alpaca or sheep fiber fabrics will also be dyed with elements of nature with which three colors will be formed.

Exceeded all expectations!! - Absolutely blown away by how professional, informative and fun the textile experience was! We’ve been traveling Latin America for 8 months and this is one of the best tours we’ve done. I simply could not recommend Andean Colours more highly!! (We got a colectivo to Andean Colours and public bus back to Cusco, which is was super easy and cheap!)

The place is mesmerizingly beautiful and the whole experience is to be remembered for life. Miguel and the girls in the workshop are amazing and super helpful, they have setup a small shop to buy textile items as well. A great visit if you stay in cusco.

Appreciate the artisans’ skills, creativity and patience - My husband and I traveled from Urubamba and were greeted by Miguel and Paulita. They were friendly and fun. We fed the alpacas and llamas. Then we each took an alpaca to collect leaves for making green dye. We made green, yellow and purple dye from 100% natural materials. We died skeins of yarn, spun yarn and wove a bracelet that we could bring home to finish. We talked with Miguel and Paulita over a delicious lunch of typical Peruvian food. We ended our tour in their shop of beautiful woven items. This was a wonderful and educational experience. Bonus-Andean Colors supports single women who are victims of domestic violence. Highly recommend!

Amazing- must do experience! - A wonderful experience! The Andean Colors textile workshop was beyond what I expected and truly special. 10/10 recommendation. Marco and the team were very communicative and helpful with transportation options (we took public transport). Once we arrive, the tour started with seeing the space and then walking with the llamas to gather our dying material. From there we learned to dye, clean wool, spin and weave. A very comprehensive experience. The food served was delicious. The area is breathtaking and a welcome change from the city of Cusco.

Must do experience!! - This was an AMAZING tour and I highly, highly recommend it! I learned SO much, from the very beginning of the wool cleaning and spinning, to the collecting of natural items to dye the wool, to the weaving. The different items they use to dye the wool are fascinating to learn about, especially the insect for the red dye. Miguel and Paulita were my guides and they were so good. Extremely enthusiastic and patient while teaching me everything. You leave with 3 different colors of yarn that you dyed yourself, along with a weaving project you start there and can finish on your own. Thank you Andean colors for the amazing day!! -Anne-Claire

A truly special experience - We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Andean Colors learning about the traditional ways of dying, spinning and weaving wool. Miguel was a wonderful and very attentive guide who taught us so much about the whole process. I loved being so involved in everything and getting to know the animals and the area. We had an amazing lunch as well and ended the day with many great impressions and our hand-dyed wool and woven bracelet!

Must-do highlight of Cusco region! - BEST PLACE to visit in the Sacred Valley! What a special experience! I am extremely grateful to Miguel and the whole team for the four-hour dyeing workshop with lunch. Andean Colors has an inspiring mission, and their passion for sharing the dyeing and weaving culture of Chincero shines through. First we had lunch; then met the llamas, alpacas, and guinea pigs; walked to harvest a dye plant; worked with various natural dye plants and substances from the region; cleaned and spun wool; and did some introductory weaving. The team was super patient, encouraging, and detail-oriented — these skills are not easy to teach to beginners in a multi-lingual setting, and they excelled! Miguel speaks great English and the whole team speaks Spanish and Quechua. They truly went above and beyond to communicate with me in advance to make plans, including being flexible on day/time; help me figure out transport. They even walked me back to the bus stop at the end and made sure I got on correctly. The team extended a really kind, fun, and loving energy. I went home with the dyed yarn we worked on; beautiful woven bracelets; and some gifts from the extensive onsite store. I love knowing that I can gift my family genuine alpaca items that have been naturally dyed, nothing artificial, and in support of an amazing mission to empower single women artisans. THANK YOU ANDEAN COLORS! <3
