  • National World War II Memorial - Twenty-four bronze bas-relief panels flank the ceremonial entrance. To many, these panels stir memories as they tell the story of America’s experience in the war. Granite columns representing each U.S. state and territory at the time of World War II ring an impressive pool with water shooting high into the air. Quotes, references to theaters, campaigns, and battles, and two massive victory pavilions chronicle the efforts Americans undertook to win the war. A wall of 4,048 gold stars reminds all of the supreme sacrifice made by over 400,000 Americans to make that victory possible.

  • Jefferson Memorial - Designed by John Russell Pope in 1925, the memorial resembles the Pantheon in Rome, an adaptation of Neoclassical architecture favored by Thomas Jefferson himself. The open-air, white columned structure shelters a 19-foot bronze statue of Jefferson, standing at the ready to welcome visitors. The Jefferson Memorial is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial - After approaching fifteen artists, they found that four of them recommended the Chinese artist Master Lei Yixin. After the Foundation interviewed him in Washington, DC, examined his work in China, Master Lei Yixin became the official sculptor in 2007. The sculpture and the mountain are composed of 159 granite blocks that were transported to Master Lei’s studio in Changsha, China, where he assembled and sculpted 80 percent of the artwork. It was then disassembled and transported by ship to Baltimore, and reassembled at the memorial. Master Lei completed the last 20 percent of the sculpting on site in Washington, D.C.

  • Washington Monument - The Washington Monument is made of marble, granite, and bluestone gneiss, is both the world’s tallest predominantly stone structure and the world’s tallest obelisk, standing over 550 feet. You do need tickets to be able to be able to ride the elevator to the top.

  • The National Archives Museum - Here you can see the Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights and the Constitution.
