What started as the dream of Dorothea Dix, a safe refuge for the widely abused mentally ill population of North Carolina, quickly developed into one of the most notorious asylums in American history. Join us on this historian-guided tour of the grounds of Dix Hill asylum, while diving into the most disturbing stories from the asylum, and learning about the early history and evolution of mental health treatment in America.
