Our tours are off the beaten path, traveling on bison trails for the majority of the hike. Most tour providers in Yellowstone spend the majority of the day on the road, or very close to the road. Our guides take you into the backcountry for unique views of the Lamar Valley that you cannot see from the roadway.

Frequently, our guests tell us that they could not do this hike on their own. We also hear feedback stating this is the best part of our guest’s vacation to Yellowstone.

A hike on the wild side in Lamar - Fantastic hike through Lamar valley. We saw lots of wildlife, bison herds, bald eagles, antelope and more. Would highly recommend to anyone. Lunch by the river in the shade was perfect and our guide Chris is the best. Science teacher by day in the winter months and guide guru in the summer. Learned a lot about native species of animals from him.

Great Lamar Valley Hike - Josh did a great job with our tour of the Lamar Valley. We were early getting to the meeting place and Josh was already there getting gear ready. He had hot drinks and snacks for us that were great. Josh prepared us well for the hike with safety tips and expectations. Josh is extremely knowledgeable about animal and plant life in the valley and it was a pleasure to get to know him. We had a great hike, saw lots of animals and learned a wealth of knowledge from Josh. Snacks and lunch were provided. There was plenty to eat. After the hike Josh provided some tips for seeing more of the park. Highly recommended this hike and Josh.

Great hike in Lamar Valley - We did this hike with our two granddaughters, 13 and 10. Dallas was our guide and did a great job! He guided us through the valley as he educated us on flora and fauna. The valley is beautiful and the trail was easy hiking for all ages involved. Dallas found moose antlers for the grandkids to hold. We also encountered bison herds, antelope chasing a coyote and an eagle and hawk fight (like a safari!). We did not see any bears but were ok with that after a bit of a scary Bear safety presentation : ) Lunch was delicious too. I recommend this hike to see the Lamar valley, see animals, get away from the crowds, and learn about Yellowstone.

Yellowstone safari - We had a great hike with Marissa as our guide. She was well acquainted with the park and the animals within. We moved on and off buffalo trails learning about their habitat and life. A few strolled by. A group of pronghorn skirted right by us. A lovely lunch by a strewn was our reward for the hike. She provided hiking pols, binoculars, bear spray and packs as well as lunch.

Great Hike for a Day of Seeing Animals on an Easy Trail - Lamar Valley was a great choice for an easy hike, roughly 6 miles, and mostly flat. Best of all: animals to see. Bison, Prong Horns, Coyotes, Wolves, Ground Squirrels and more. Dallas, our guide was great. He was very interactive and showed us a great day. I highly recommend Yellowstone Hiking Guides and our guide Dallas.

Chilly wildlife watching in the Lamar Valley - My husband and I met Karli our guide for this hike with a small group. It was terrific from start to finish. We ran late but Karli was gracious when we showed up and made sure we were properly outfitted. She provided backpacks, bear spray, snacks and water. We began the hike with a safety talk and immediately as soon as we began had to skirt a herd of bison in the trail. We saw Pronghorn, bears, Sandhill Cranes, a coyote, some one in our group saw a weasel.I am a birder and Karli made sure to point out raptors, Mountain Bluebirds, Yellow Warblers, several duck species and I got a great photo of a Western Tanagers. She had us walking at a comfortable pace and we had plenty of breaks. It was a cold day so she provided coffee and cocoa at the end of the hike. We had a great time. For us it was the highlight of a fabulous trip to Yellowstone.
